I didn't mean "Would you play it instead of A Realm Reborn?" cause I'd never do that lol.
Rather more than a Legacy Server kind of thing.
I mainly feel like all the back story to a world I love is just... gone. Like stuff you find here, I see the original FF XIV as some kind of lost piece of history... I mean, maybe that's kind of the point, but this thought came to me mostly because two people with very similar tastes to mine when it comes to game, say that the final months from the original version were not that bad... yes, the months where Yoshida was already in charge.
But well, it's just "what if" hehe, I know it's not happening 100% sure.

Not even if they made it free.

Well...I would maybe go back for a little bit just for Yda's voice actually....maybe...
Really hate her voice in 2.0 ):

Having already done the story, not really.
If they just made a single Legacy server, included in the ARR client, which lets you create a character with everything at 50, but no quests done, that would be pretty cool. Players new to ARR could easily jump in and experience the Calamity storyline, finding people for some of the content might be hard but if anyone in my FC/LS asked for help with some of the story fights I'd probably jump in to give Rivenroad another shot. Wouldn't want to farm anything though, might occasionally want to "explore", though that's more a desire to run around with Twilight over Thanalan playing than actually wanting to explore the copy/pasta world it had.

I thought it would be interesting to have some arcade machines in the gold saucer or maybe a museum where when you looked at the exhibits you'd get sent back by the echo to that time as a playable instance where you can run the instanced dungeons or primal fights in the 1.x engine with a pre-built level 50 1.x character (e.g a PLD in full AF armour with all skills and a curtana and holy shield).

Where were you two years ago? During December of 1.#'s last year, a month after it was shut down, Square reactivated the servers under the stipulation that they'd keep it going so long as a minimum population was maintained. This was never even close to achieved and a couple short weeks later the servers were shut down again forever. We had our chance, we chose not to. A little late now, don't you think?

Use the Atomos time portal idea from FFXI and send us back to pre-cataclysm Eorzea. Being able to move around in a large open landscape would be like being let out of a battery chicken cage. Real space, actual risk. I would go.
-
I totally would, if just to experience the 1.x story in its entirety with my character as opposed to watching youtube videos.

@Gilraen
Sorry, what?
Not talking of what "could have been done", nor am I saying I want it now. Read the title of the topic again: FF XIV 1.23b - Would you Play it? About Dec 1st 2013, I wasn't following news of the game at the time.
So don't give me a "We had our chance, we chose not to. A little late now, don't you think?", because no, I don't think so.
This topic is a mere simple question set in the Heavensward pre-launch environment. I can't believe I have to explain something like this.
Were was I two years ago? At the wrong place apparently. Was that to happen today, and if I knew, I'd join. I unfortunately didn't "have a chance", for I didn't even know it existed. I mean, forgive me but I was only starting and taking it really slow in ARR, I'm SO SORRY I didn't know 1.0's servers were up, and that I was being put to the test, and that in May 2015 a guy in a forum would come back to tell me I had "my chance".
