Nah, just the people who are unhappy have the loudest voices. Look at me back when 2.0 started with anything having to do with fishing.
On the other hand, I am so excited for Machinist right now it's not even funny. Five years of waiting for a gun class and we finally get something with awesome looking mechanics, great looking gear, probably a really cool backstory. Don't even get me started on how the new maps look like a throwback to 1.0's Coerthan maps both in scale and mob philosophy, or how the flying looks absolutely amazing.
I haven't been this hyped since waiting for the first Metroid Prime to release.
Hearing about a dangerous overworld (party required) certainly got me smiling. Knowing that Ravana actually has voiced dialogue during battle is another plus (because it was jarring to just have speech bubbles and no voices. Imagine if Ramuh or Shiva spoke during battle).
Shell wasn't added but they added magic protection to protect for all 3 healer roles.
This certainly isn't Burger King.
Lazy shortcuts are lazy.
You only hear from people that complain.
I think the changes they showed were really well thought. Every job got more depth and identity, sound more fun to play than just figure your 1-2-3 rotation and no-brain it to death (current blm being the more obvious example).
Being able to get possessed by bahamut in smn is so much more interesting gameplay wise and cool than any deform abomination they could have added as new egi, people whining that they don't see how it's possible also probably didn't clear the coil but there's a lot of way it could happen from the point of lore. (Bahamut being the incarnation of dragon's hatred, in the dragon themed Heavensward... how could we possibly, at one point, somehow find a way to get in touch with that hatred...)
As for the dangerous mob, A lot of people wanted them. It give the world more credibility. I can't take seriously someone saying: "But how will we be able to rush like idiot through waves of dangerous enemy like headless chicken now?"
You know... maybe try not to get aggro? There a lot of way to get around mobs, or spell/skill to bind or sleep them. Nobody said you would have to fight every single mob you get across, you'll just have to be more cautious.
Anyway I love the changes they showed!
Thanks everyone for the posts so far. Even as I like to be vocal and sceptic all the time, I believe that forums really should show the opinion of whole community and not only the one side (the RIP side in this case).
So yeah, lets hope that devs won't look at forums and won't feel like no one is looking forward to Heavensward.
I love the DRK info it makes it seam like changing their stance while tanking is a must nice technical tank I think thou from the description of their survive ability that they miss worded holmgang with hallowed ground.
I'm really happy and excited about all the new stuff! :3 I find it ridiculous that people are already complaining about the class changes when they haven't even had the chance to try them out yet.
As have been mentioned, you mostly hear from people that complain, and most of the ones that like it, don't bother...
I watched the Live Letter while talking to my FC in-game... and everyone of us liked the majority of abilities that were shown. Sure, they could have given us some more detailed info on some jobs... Not 20 min Demo like with BLM, cause then it would take forever, but maybe some slides that explained it a little better. Otherwise I loved it.
I play only DPS jobs, but all healers and tanks sounds much more interesting now, and I could probably play every single DPS job now. Ninja is the only one we didn't really get too much info about.
Best decision they could have made: Evening out the difficulty on jobs a little. All jobs sound more interesting, and complexity makes them much more fun to master too. BRDs doesn't sound bland anymore(That was my opinion), BLM sound much more engaging, SMN actually looks to be fun now, and I love MNK even more now (FTW!), to name a few... Maybe the more difficult jobs become even harder, but at least some of the jobs aren't a faceroll
We even got to see some damage numbers with the BLM, which might be "whatever" to many players, but I liked knowing kinda how big of an increase we would see. Don't know how good that gear was though.
I'm pretty excited about it. I'm still not sure what to think about summoner, but I'll definitely try it out before deciding if I'm going to change my main. The stuff for warrior sounds pretty cool and my FC doesn't really have anyone that mains it so I might look into that as well.
