Also not to mention the subscription costs are $15, and anyone who entertains the cash shop and its funny prices are essentially buying multiple months of service at once and covering for would-be subscribers or quitters.
i think they're doing fine. The in-game content is doing good, the cash-shop exists on its own and isn't invasive. Seriously, if FFXIV isn't "doing good", then P2P is doomed for the remainder of existence. By all indication they're probably doing better than "great" and the expansion shouldn't do anything to slow that down.
After the massive trainwreck that was FFXIII and its trilogy of ass, FFXIV is pretty much the only big thing to come out of Square Enix recently that players, reviewers, and stockholders alike cannot find anything to complain about. And I honestly cannot remember the last time that happened to Square Enix. Probably FF7. Seriously.
