I really like this idea :)

A further reward system maybe relating to the companies for doing the airship content would be nice for building up points etc for your company in keeping the airships repaired and running well. Maybe the possibility of some materials for the DoH or DoL job that you do tasks on at the end also as a "payment"? ^^

Ya, at first I was thinking of just a battle scenario, but then I thought that..

1.) Some people just want to "stop and smell the roses" and experience the ride.
2.) What about the other classes?

I still think one might be able to include the crafting classes on the warship as well.

Perhaps an ARM or BSM can tend to the Cannons and successful repairs help maintain the cannons HP, while an ALC chooses different gunpowders to be fired at the enemy ships. CRPs can repair the ships hull and maintain it's HP, while GLDs can monitor the ships instruments and make sure they're in working order. WVRs could spot possible traitors by discerning inconsistencies in a crew members uniform (that's a stretch) while TANs <insert idea here> and CUL uses the engine to cook some dodo steak (ran out of ideas.)

Perhaps further expansion could be something like Linkshells having their own airship/airships to use as transport, or having LS vs. LS airship battles with, especially if you could swing on a rope to board the other people's airship and have epic pirate battles, or have one person operating a cannon whilst another fetches the cannonballs and another loads the gunpowder, to promote more sociability and teamwork within the game and stuff. I can already picture a group of people swarming around an airship deck trying to pilot and fire the guns and repair damage and such XD

Then adding to that in fact, custom decorations for Linkshell owned Airships. Since we can do loads of crafting like carpentry and stuff, it'd be fun to be able to make furniture and decorations, as well as weaponry and armour, for our airships to make them more personalised. :D

I keep trying to get my LS to have a boat party using the boat from Thanalan to La Noscea, and although the boat ride takes a long time it never lasts long enough to immerse in any significant roleplaying/storytelling/jovial merrymaking, so being able to stick around on an airship for as long as you like doing whatever you please could be good fun ^.^

I do not like the idea of instant transportation through the express option. We already have the anima system for instant travel and the airship (without express) should be the next fastest option.

I feel your suggestion is lacking content and is looking at airships in the blandest possible concept: As modes of transportation only.

On the other hand Konachibi's proposal is full of wonderful ideas and add's considerable more depth to the game. I'll be paraphrasing her concepts and including them into the OP.
