For Au Ra, it could've been horn or scale color. For Mi'qote, skin patterns (e.g. leopard).

Already a few far greater options I've listed.

Or choosing a style of bangs or no bangs instead of always being forced one way or another.

Honestly though, we just need better/more customization options in general.

Like swapping which color is the dominant in highlighted hair, more beards, more tattoos that aren't cutesy butterflies & such, body tats, better muscle sliders, all facial features available to all faces (esp. for Au Ra), & so on.

I wouldn't lose my lipstick for any of those options, I would feel naked without it. In addition to lip colours yes but not instead of.

And YIKES, for gods' sake, do not even talk about removing lip colors. It's bad enough that regular makeup is grouped together with facepaints (ie tattoos), so you either wear one or the other. @_@

While I can understand some enjoy having options for lipcoloring, imo lipcoloring nearly always detracts from the portrait.
It's real hard to fit a different color at the place/shape of the lips tbh.

Actually, no. Eyeshadow, lip color, blush(/"concealer") - those should be a separate makeup category. Then there are things like the star, the heart, the chiclet, etc - those are more like tattoos. And then the tribal-like motifs, stripes across the face, and the like - those are actual facepaints. I know I'm nitpicking here, but I can't see why pieces of these three categories couldn't be applied all at once (obviously way to easy to badly overdo, but that's a different subject).

They are all ''make up'' or ''face paint'' (applied to your face). IE: same thing.

What your asking for should rather be a more extensive customization of above that allows you to apply combinations of whatever.

I play a lala. my lips are like a single pixel, ain't nobody gonna see what colour they are.

It also depends on the lighting, I've found. Rotate the background so that your character's face is on the light source, and you can see the differences on the female models a lot better. For the Au Ra, the colors don't seem to be as drastic as they were on Mi'quote though, and it seems only the female models get actual lip stick.

This is what I don't like about lip colors as is. Light or dark, doesn't matter all of them are glossy. What if my character is more of a lipstick fan than a lipgloss fan? I would love to be able to change lip colors without the glossy sheen.

agree with this 100%. I def would like to see more variation in color, at least. and red? YES PLEASE, I want red dammit.

Yeah I wish we could have red color for lips! I also wish face paint wasn’t mixed with makeup; I’ve wanted to do a geisha type makeup style, where my characters face is white, and have pure red lips, but it’s not possible because of the lip color. ;A;

The lip coloring does leave much to be desired. As others have stated, on some races it's quite easy to find a shade that will work and doesn't look completely horrible. Others not so much. Also, I can't quite pinpoint it, but at times it just slapped some paint on the mouth. The lip line looks really bad. :(
