I've been on Balmung now for about two weeks. I was previously on Leviathan, and before that a few other primal data center U.S. servers.
Balmung is very busy, but the people seem far friendlier than Leviathan. The RMT situation on Balmung is like heaven compared to the hell that was Leviathan. I get maybe one tell a day (two at most), never get those annoying friend requests from spam bots, and never see RMT spam being shouted in cities. So far, I highly recommend Balmung.
Wow, it's been over 2 years since I did this post. I finally took a look at the forums again and decided to share my experience.
THE SERVER DOESN'T REALLY MATTER! WHAT MATTERS IS FINDING FRIENDS TO PLAY WITH!
Yeah, seems pretty obvious, but I think that's the most important thing when looking for a server.
After a couple of new characters and server transfers, I've found a place in Gilgamesh :)
It's two years later, but once again, thank you everyone who gave me suggestions.
