This always bothers me, as I see no reason to confuse them personally, but I understand why people (who don't pay attention or don't care) make the mistake. Tomestone isn't a very common word (nor is tome, even though I learned it in elementary school), and if you only glance at it the first time you see it, you could easily confuse it for tombstone (even though that makes no sense at all) and not think about it again.
They will probably be for level 60 item level 61+ gear.
My guess is law for i150 and esoteric is
i170 if there's no changes to the current ilvls come HW.
I thought they said they would accelerate it.
I don't like to guess, but some people here are expecting the kind of increase you would get in a regular patch, so I want to add some numbers I feel are more realistic for an expansion...
Lv55-59 gear .... item level 140 - 150
Lv60 dungeon gear ... iLv 160 - 170
tomes of law ... iLv 180
alexander loot ... iLv 190
tomes of esoterics .... iLv 190 (upgrade to 200)
alexander savage ... iLv 200
I guess, maybe if you don't know that a tome is a word usually used to describe large, heavy books? The item description of Unidentified and Encrypted tomestones state that they're full of information about the Allagan empire. I dunno, I don't see how people mix up a grave marker with an ancient hi-tech book, but maybe it's just me. xD
I can't see why they'd take out Poetics and the Ironworks Magitek equipment, as fresh level 50 jobs will need some way of catching up to the Heavensward item level range.
I...wouldn't be surprised if people didn't know the word tome. I also don't know how many people actually look at the item descriptions, either. I'm not saying you can confuse them if you pay attention to them, which is impossible. My point is that if you only glance at the word, read "tombstone" because brains do that, and then never think of it past what the currency is called, you could confuse it.
I don't understand the mistake, I understand why people who don't pay attention or don't care make the mistake.
Really? I thought this is what it really is.
