The first 10 levels are quick. You should try out the ones you like first and then at level 10 you can switch to another class. It's all about preference and play style. I tried Marauder, Archer, Thaumaturge and Conjerer and settled on Conjurer/WHM.

Welcome back to the game. Without knowing your particular playstyle preferences it's hard to really nail down a recommendation. However, bard is considered one of the easier classes to play, so if you like the sound of it... jump right in.
Melee are usually considered harder not just because they need to dodge more, but also because of the complexity of their rotations. If you're not planning to raid then you don't need to worry about heavy optimization, however.
Healing is a whole different topic and it can be boring in the low levels but very rewarding at endgame, but I won't get into that unless you have particular interest.
Bard for sure. No position requirements, can run around like a chicken with their head cut off while still attacking, easy rotation, decent damage.
Well that kinda depends. I always try to play something aesthetically pleasing.
You like knights in armor? Play Tank or Lancer
Asian Flair? Ninja or Monk
Magical types? White Mage, Black Mage, Summoner
If you've played MMO's before you should have an idea of what role you like to play. The learning curve of the game is generally pretty good and gives you time to learn your classes abilities in a fast and good fashion.
That being said I can't help but mention queue times for content. Tanks have the easiest time getting into duties and instances. When i queue tank im usually in a DF in under five minutes. Healers are also generally fast.
DPS however generally have to wait quite a bit longer due to overpopulation of that job role.
So in summary, choose something that "looks cool" to you. If you can only play for an hour or two at a time i would highly recommend a tank or healer class to make maximum use of your time.
You don't really need a noob friendly class very much here. All the classes start out trivially simple and then add in their complexities gradually. Most look complex if you start off by looking at what endgame patterns or priorities are, but if you take everything a step at a time, learn the strengths and weaknesses of each new skill as you get it, even a complete newb can pick up on stuff gradually, as each new piece gets introduced.
And, regardless of which one you start your character with, I recommend trying out all the classes. It's one of the big advantages of a game that's as free with multi-classing as this one. You can try out everything before deciding which you're going to focus the majority of your attention on.
With my experience up to lvl 37, this game is a walk in the park to most. Almost everyone you play with in dungeons are lvl 50s.
Sort of. Think of every level before 50 as the tutorial (though MMOs tend to be top heavy all the same). Once you get to 50, there is content that will force you to both react quickly and appropriately, and heavily optimize your rotation (and to a lesser extent, gear). It's all pretty optional though, because Square appropriately recognizes that not everyone plays MMOs to raid or otherwise do hardcore content. And keeping in mind these early dungeons are designed for people who may have never played an MMO before and don't even know what a tank or DPS is.
But anyways, if you do want to do it, the game will very quickly stop being walk-in-the-park at 50.
