Yeah pretty sure you wouldn't do enough harm to it as a botanist. DOL classes weren't designed for fighting fates.

I suppose it's a bit odd, but the way it's set up you actually can attack FATE targets as a DoL class if you're within the correct level range. As you noticed there is no option to level sync if you're not a combat class. It really should just be more restrictive as there is no benefit to attacking anything as a BOT (you can't gain exp even if you do kill things and can't earn credit toward completing FATES, even FATES that require item turn ins as opposed to regular combat).

Got baffled by this as well, even though I should have thought of it. Kinda weird that even as a non-combat class the map icon wasn't red like it normally would be when you can't progress as your current class.
