I spend time with them as well... the part is even if its after they sleep and I start getting into my own time (reason why I was up till 4 AM back then) I still got wifes asuran fist + mega-kamehameha :(Quote:

Two girlfriends ago, she didn't mind but it was long distance.
One girlfriend ago said I could have play time (I played every Thursday night and Friday night was optional) until she tried to get me to quit playing altogether. Bad idea, sweetie. Adios.
Current girlfriend is OK with my play time because she studies for school and her ex's gave her crap for studying too much. I let her study ALL she wants. :D (I still play on Thursdays and Fridays and now on Sundays BUT Monday, Wed and Sat are all her's)
You guys need to let them know it keeps you out of trouble and she know your not out there cheating lol
When i was 13+year old and playing FFXI i did quit for the amount of time i was with the girl. I still was paying for the game so i only log in to talk to friend or just now and then do a party if she hang up and she was doing something. but now with my 3relationship i don't have to worry about that. She was playing wow when we start going out she even made the linkshell i was building break due to her using my only pc to play wow. She like every other wow play thought ffxi look dumb but she saw me playing and she want to test it out.
She learn pretty quick before i even got her the game i went to take a bath and came back. She had build me a merit party with the right type of members o.o and got me to the area in whitegate o.o. So i got her the game she quit wow and in about 1year she had over 5+ 75 which where. RDM,WHM,BLM,SCH,THF, and she got BRD DRG and SMN 65. She even help me get my COP done. She got in a HNM linkshell i did not have a mage job but they let me in due to her :) so i even got a black belt thanks to her.
I was playing for years and i was not even 75 yet but i took my time and help other. But when she start playing it's when i got really into the game and start getting stuff like kirin body and black belt and everything else for my sam and monk. Now we are playing FFXIV and we still enjoy playing Game together and go out and hang out.
so i have no issue right now :) it hard when the girl does not like playing video games and tell you to get off. But you had to make them understand that this is your thing. At least you not going out to the bar and getting drug or doing other stuff. you just at home playing a MMO and she know where you are lol.
My fiance realizes that I need downtime as an introvert, so I play this game. She lets me play Sun, Tue, and Wed nights. Just as long as she knows that she is more important then she is fine. I am going into the gaming business as I have been going to school to be a game designer so she understands that a good chucnk of my hobby time is around gaming. She only plays cell phone games like Angry Birds or sometimes Mario games on the Wii with me. Mario Party 8 and a few bottles of wine - we enjoy it. Communication is key though for sure. She even feeds me ideas for new cell phone games to make. The current one I am working on is only made possible by all of the ideas she has been feeding me. I am not sure when I will start working for one of our local game design companies and I wish to finish my PhD in Computer Science first.
If you are a true gamer, where it is a part of your life, I just don't see how you could be in a relationship with someone that hates games and not have troubles. It's like a devout religious person marrying an atheist; it's not impossible, but it brings on a lot of problems.
Having said that, when my girl comes over while I'm playing FFXIV I usually stop because she looks bored. Then we switch to a 2-player game. :)
Well, I'm divorced, my kids kids are old enough to take care of themselves most of the time, I generally play from 8-12 most nights unless I have some work to catch up on. Gives me time to make dinner, do homework with the kids, laundry, and stuff like that, and still plenty of play time.
When I was married, I played FFXI a lot. She got into it eventually, and then let it take over, to the point where things were suffering, such as raising kids, cleaning, etc. and I was doing it all, plus working full time while she sat at home and played ffxi. That didn't last very long, and now I answer to no one, raise kids, and have fun.
You have 2 options with family and Kids
1) Know when to get off... bad things happen if you don't. GF/Wife agro is something that should be avoided at all time.
2)(Better Option) Get the kids and Wife to play ... It is called a family night a time for the whole family to bond and come together and play.... just have to find a way to sell that >.>
My previous girlfriend didn't have a problem with it (broke up with her for non-gaming related reasons). I wouldn't bother with someone who did. I would rather be alone than with someone who tries to control every aspect of how I spend my time.
I'm a pretty easy-going guy and people take advantage of my good nature a lot.
All I'm going to say is that I have stories that will crush you and make you wonder how I even have the strength to get out of bed in the morning.
