Keep in mind that in 1.20 we can allocate manually, so you could presumably put whatever str you want to your lala and roe within a range, which will be the same for the different races, except that starting stats will be different.
What is the point of getting gear if it's not going to make you good? In a game where everything is under formula calculation, gears always play big roles.
These can be handled with dynamic contents where paying attention is needed of course, like CON that knows how to cure fast will always be better than the one that doesn't, but obviously you are going to get replaced by CON that heals as fast but, heals more (because of cure potency gear).
I just hope this doesn't turn into the Taru (mp galore) and Galka (meat shield) extremes of FFXI. That's pretty much the only part where starting stats made a visual difference at the end.Quote:
Race-based differences will be limited to the starting attributes.
Could just be a bad translation, but I won't assume literally "starting attributes" only, until I see it for myself when 1.19 comes along.
Odd. This appears as old news, posted on May 20th...
The races always have started with different attributes at Rank 1. They add up to the same number of points (90) regardless of race (AD&D style). So Highlanders have the most starting Strength and Lightning, Dunesfolk have highest starting Earth and Piety, etc.
The above quote probably means that the increases in attributes as you level up will not be different depending on race, but will add to those same race-based starting attribute numbers.
I must say, I am VERY disappointed that I cant allocate my own stats till 1.2 or later.
I hope that when allocation comes around in 1.20 that they will give you bonus points to allocate on top of your fixed stats. I like fixed stats for the sake of streamlining the process. When you have full stat allocation like in Diablo1/2, torchlight and other games there are always only a couple of "right answers"(builds) to an infinite number of wrong ones. I don't particularly enjoy going to a dungeon and the leader go "okay now reallocate all your crap to Vit", and doing it. Sure it helped a lot, but if it was fixed then i wouldn't have to do it in the first place.
