and for good reason... it has been over a year. and there hasn't been even remotely the slightest drop in RMT activity. nor as SE done a single thing different. simply put, the situation will never be elevated. It's had kind of a weird unintended effect on a lot of servers that are frequently locked for character creation. If you keep your blacklists up to date- which is getting increasingly more difficult. You can tell when character creation unlocks for your server as a literal tide of new gilsellers washes in.

That said, every game has crap like this, I imagine that FFXIV is getting a lot of attention because it's both doing pretty well and has it's first major expansion coming out in the near future. Trying to grab people who plan on using money to ease their passage up to the new level cap/new classes.

That said, there's only one solution to this problem, and Squeenix has already used it once before.

Indeed which is why I think an account wide black list is extremely important and necessary, both to help tackle spam, and to prevent continued harassment by abusers using Alts.

+9000 for account-wide blacklist. These RMTs would be forced to buy new copies of the games to make a new account just to spam us further. Yes please

Speak for yourself. I almost never see RMT spam. Maybe one message a week. I think I have 2 people on my black list at the moment. Everyone does not share the problem the same way you do. You're assuming that all players have the same problem.

even something like this could help. it may not seem like much, but taking at least one step forward isn't going to hurt anyone. come on SE, take your first baby-step. :D we will all get our video recorders ^_^

Then if you aren't experiencing problems with RMT spam, there's no reason for you to be commenting in a thread about players who are experiencing this problem.

i never assumed anything. did i ever say anything about other players? of course i am speaking from personal experiences... but one thing i can say, is that anyone on Exodus is sure to have had similar experiences. also i think a world merger is coming up in either 3.0, or sometime after. so things can always change for you.

either way, no matter how it is looked at... RMT activity is out-of-hand. it may not be on your world, but it is on many of the other worlds.

Honestly the best solution for now (to keep from spamming the forums with this topic) is simply to ignore them. Be ignorant of the tells! How hard is it to NOT read the little tell text when it pops up? I used to be so annoyed by the RMT spammers til I realized that it's me being annoyed that's my problem. Once I just became ignorant to them I stopped caring that they come through. Trust that one day they'll have a more viable solution to this problem but in the meantime just ignore it. If you can do that then you could stop creating new threads to talk about the same tired issue.

When it's nothing but cynicism a voice speaking up to balance things out IS necessary. Just like the person before who posted the RMT bannings that everyone likes to ignore when they act like Square does nothing.

This thread IS NOT your echo chamber. It's a forum where anybody can hop in and speak their mind either for or against the topic. I think you should find a way to accept that. Or you know, go look up the definition of a forum.
