Well, it's an MMO, you can't hide everything. Back when I first started playing as an arcanist I had all kinds spoiled for me like seeing peoples upgraded pets in the forms of Garuda Ifrit and Titan and the fairies.

HAS LONG BEEN DISPUTED does not mean ARE NOT.
This just means they're likely MORE than just dragon people, not that they're NOT dragon people. IMO this has Allagan fingerprints all over it.
Just like it "has long been disputed" whether or not Giant Pandas are in fact bears.
^the way they say that the hearing works and their horns...says its not dragon related at all heh
They first say how people speculate it, then pointed out why its not true...
But I suppose people will argue this until Yoshida himself says, yo..they ain't draguuuunz
Lol.
They said it's not an attribute of dragons. That still doesn't completely disprove it. On the website it says that their draconic origins are in dispute, meaning not completely proven or disproven. The fact that they felt the need to mention that specifically means it will probably be important later.
And, like the person before me said, they are probably the result of Allagan tampering, trying to transplant and improve the attributes of dragons onto a humanoid race.
For all we know, Doga and Unei could be the Dawn Father and Dusk Mother. (I don't know many allagans so i use them as examples)
Edit: You'd think square would possibly like to go the more interesting route and make them dragon people with some sort of crazy awesome history, rather than people who kinda sorta look like they could be dragon people but not really.
Let's really look at these two mentioned features and compare them to my theory:
1) Their enhanced senses. Boy howdy that seems like something someone trying to artificially create a species would do. In addition, while dragons themselves do not have this trait, it could be a side effect of cross-breeding/splicing with non-dragons.
2) The sexual dimorphism. This may be a result of the theorized gene splicing. Also, Dragons don't have sexual dimorphism that we know about, but again they could still carry the genetic possibility. And, once again, this is something that SCREAMS genetic manipulation by the Allagans.
"They're like dragons except these two things" sounds an awful lot like "they're like bears except for these few things."
Just because they develop their own differences over time doesn't mean that their origin isn't shared.
Ya I wish they weren't so vague ><
I hope we get more lore on them soon!
