Okay i'll make a new thread.

here's what i gathered about breeding.

Your attributes (#/100) does not carry over, however, the more stars you have the higher the maximum number for a certain stat is higher as well. ie. a 2 star stamina will give you max of 100/100, a 4 star is maxed at 250.
With stars: from what i gather, your offspring has a 50/50 chance of getting the stats from either the mother or the father.
This is where the pedigree comes in for your covers.

You will notice that the cover that you buy for doesn't actually show you how many stars for each stat it has, rather what is show is it's pedigree (the stats of it's mom and dad).
Therefor, you can calculated this way:
your chocobo:
2 star Stamina
2 star Speed
2 star acceleration
2 star cunning
2 star endurance
- you offspring has a 50% chance of getting these stats

- continued

the cover you buy:
Mom / / Dad
1 Star Stamina / / 3 Star stamina
3 Star Speed / / 2 Star Speed
2 Star Acceleration / / 1 Star acceleration
2 Star cunning / / 2 star cunning
1 Star endurance / / 1 Star endurance
- your offspring would have a 25% chance of receiving these stats
ie. 50% 2 star Stamina (from your chocobo) and 25% 1star and 25% 3 star (from the cover)
you would get a 100% chance of getting 2 star cunning since your chocobo has 2 stars and your cover is also 2 stars (as both parents of your cover is also 2 stars)
and finally a 50% 2 star endurance (from your chocobo) and a 50% 1 star endurance (from he cover)

at least this is my theory. I don't know how abilities works though.

My question is, are you allowed to mix grades and is it worth it?

You can mix them, is it worth it ?

Arguable, because if the difference is to big its more unlikly from higher parent are choosen.

Pro: Higher pedigree levels have more useful abilties.

But dont worry, light grind is nothing compared to raise a single pedigree 9 bird.

How do these stats work in the races?(seems more of a question for SE) My second chocobo is losing worse than my first chocobo in the R-80's races with about 20% better stats than my original bird. I can't seem to get first at all anymore.

Another thing I noticed is that my stamina bar will drain halfway through one race and last the entirety of another race regardless of weather preference. I wish SE would be a little more punctual on these kinds of things.

so would be getting a grade 9 covering me silly for breed with my first choco?

*nods* I do hope in a future update we can start to feed them the dye fruits as a separate feature too.
