It's really frustrating sometimes. Last week I ran WoD more than 10 times, never saw a healer item. This week, I got one (and won it) on my first run for the weekly.
But I do think it's just pure RNG. Square's talked about it; they're using Mersenne Twister.
Edit to add: Note that there's only one set of tank gear and one set of healer gear. While there's several sets of DPS gear. So it is a lot more likely DPS gear will drop.
Its RNG, as usual. Trying for the tank chest this week and within a matter of 3 runs or so I've seen every other tank piece in WoD except that chest :(
As people have said many times, it's all random. Now if you are going in with the idea of getting a specific piece "Body", which seem what everyone wants, then you're going to drive yourself stupid crazy. This is when you start believing that X items for Y jobs aren't dropping. So if you're looking for healing stuff OP, and something drops, just pull the trigger. There's always next week anyways till the lockout gets removed at 2.5+ or expansion release.
In World of Sadness, RNG does not love you. The first week of it I ran it countless times for a single tank piece that refused to drop. Got a head piece, and dreaded having to return to that terrible place the following week. Don't get me wrong, I love the place, I just hate the people I get paired with. Nobody can't be that stupid... Yet they are. :<
I've only seen 1 bard piece drop.
1 tank piece drop.
Rest have been healing pieces and the mnk gear I got.
I've only seen a couple ninja pieces.
Majority of what I've had drop has been caster gear more than anything else.
I feel like I only see DoW stuff every time I run it. But on the the other hand I'm not interested in the caster gear since I already have full i120. So I automatically pass on it. I've seen healer boots but I already have the i120 healer boots so I passed on those, too. Basically I'm looking for tank, dragoon, and bard stuff but it seems like the drops are mostly ninja or monk.
I've seen everything except the boots. Cerberus just refuses to give them up! >.<
The gear you want is always the hardest to get.
BRD gear is the hardest for me. I am using WoD to gear up my ARC retainer and it is the most rarely seen item for me in my runs.
it's RNG. I've seen the bard chest my third-ish run of WoD ever (and won it), and had my most recent run as all 2 caster, 1 healer, and one tank piece.
Then you have situations like FCOB groups clearing t13 and getting 2 PLD swords over the course of 2 runs, while every other group on the server hasn't seen a single one.
And then you have the much sought after t7 healer chest, which I have but my FC leader hasn't gotten it despite running it more than me
The dice can be fickle.
