I really think something is wrong with the PvP queues at times. We try to monitor who gets in when we queue during prime time in our linkshell and occasionally some players get into games consistently while others are locked out for sometimes an hour or more despite having queued at around the same time.
One thing is for sure, there is no way of getting into an in progress game if you don't requeue after about 5-10 minutes. It helps to know people who get in so that you have a chance at getting an in progress game if you've been waiting a while.
But you're dealing with strictly anecdotal evidence.
For example: JUST NOW AS I WAS TYPING - I got an "in progress queue" pop after 14 minutes in queue. By your theory, 14 minutes now becomes a magical number for in progress queuing. Because it happened to me and I noticed it.
You're not keeping track of data over a period of time. You're remembering specific instances that agree with your theory. That's what confirmation bias is.
Honestly, I wish I understood how the queue worked so that we wouldn't have to resort to things like this at least on Storm.
For example, despite having several dozen people in queue during a game, we may still have a large hole of 3 or more people UNTIL they requeue. It's really bothersome and I don't understand why it doesn't try to pick from the members who have actually been waiting and are also checking join in progress.
Guys, I'm starting to think this works. Last night I had queues insta pop after leaving 15 min+ queues and then requeuing right away. It wasn't just for matches in progress. It popped for new 72 man groups.
Well it would not matter at all if team is full from the start. In the past during the sweet que time 5est to 8est where I can tell there are at least 3 matches going on (pre2.5). Everyone was reporting being short at start of match. Respamming que would generally net me 3 to 4 inprogesses. I always tell people this is strictly observational.
This is all we know for sure. The system does not put people on a list and work its way through the list to fill matches. I think anyone in a semi active pvp LS would agree. The way it picks people are no way based on time in que. If it is because the system is bugged and not working as intended. Has anyone tried to submit a bug report through 2 players. IE screenshot 1 min que 50 min que still waiting? Or my conspiracy theory they have some secret matching system.
From my experience, the way the queue system works is that once it sticks you into an instance, you're stuck there until it fills.
Example:
Instance 1 has no room for you. It sticks you into instance 2. A spot you would fit into opens up in instance 1 because someone left; too bad, you're in instance 2. A new person queues up and takes the spot in instance 1, which will fill up before instance 2 does. The new person had a better queue time as a result of this.
So, does requeueing help? Sometimes, yes, especially in the case of queueing for in-progress.
This is just how I believe it works based on my experience. I have nothing concrete with which to back it up. One of the main reasons I believe it works this way is from queueing for multiple things at once. Queue up for pvp and a primal at the same time. Once your party starts filling up for that primal, you can forget about being queued for pvp. You're stuck there until that primal party fills up.
