lol @ the festival music.
I think the whole situation is just hilarious.
But yes, I'll be very glad to have the old music back. Still, enjoy it while it lasts. Or enjoy laughing about how annoying it is while it lasts, either/or. :P

I hate the festival music. I vote to only hear it in the vicinity of the festival npcs with a swimsuit equipped. I currently have background music turned off to escape the horrific elevator music.
It was okay for the first 5 minutes....
One week later and well, it's muted of course.
Yeah, I personally find the constant trumpeting pretty abrasive after a short while. I hope they compose a new theme for next year. Pretty much resigned to having music off for the duration of the event.
I actually don't mind it when I do pay attention to it. In any case, I'm usually listening to my iPod as I play. :P
i was always told if you have noting nice to say don't say anyting at all, so i'm just gonna give the OP and thumbs up.
I enjoyed the music at first when I came back a week ago... then when reality set in (translation: it was still trumpeting along 2 hours later) I muted the BGM. At least the annoying banjo music in FFXI's summer festival only came on during the fireworks animations (evening only) and was limited to the cities and the zones directly connected to the cities.
FFXIV's summer festival music had me contemplating assorted ways I could potentially torture the musician responsible for said travesty. What's worse is it almost sounds like something out of Samba de Amigo. Only thing missing is a Laifelel dressed up in a festive mariachi outfit and shaking a pair of maraca's in beat to the trumpet while following/being chased by a Bombard. <<shudder>>
Man, you made me want to listen to it... GAH!
