I am all for Cures doing damage to the undead.
But for those who cure the undead, and forget to keep the tank alive, and then they die and then comes the major wipe... shame on you if that happens. I'll hit you with Flare!!!
I always enjoyed killing the Phantom Train with an elixir early in VI. Once I learned you could do that it just seemed like the right thing to do every playthrough. Almost like part of the story.
Yea Undead should be dmged by healing magic it's common sense in FF world =P
And in other FFs Raise / Life / Phoenix down or any other sort of ressurecting skill would also dmg them or kill instantly , of course 1-shooting with raise is probably out of the question lol

I hate to necro bump a topic, but I whole-heartedly agree with the request here. It is reasonable, it is classic, and I doubt it would take much effort to implement and balance, if SE really wanted to, seeing how few undead are implemented in FFXIV presently. It should act like holy damage to all undead, including skeletons, ghosts, and other necrotic beasts.
Also, if they ever add a status effect such as "Zombie" to players, cures should have the same damaging effect to them, unless the status effect has first been removed. Just like it was in previous titles. (Note: a full party with zombie effect was the equivalent of a wipe.)
I wish I had the link but I think the dev team commented on this saying that they are planning in this but didn't have an ETA. My thought now is this might come in 2.0 :)
It's a balance thing, too
Say you cast Curaga on a zombie. You heal your entire party and attack the zombie the same time.
Maybe SE could make it that only single target heal can cast on undeads.
