Why would you use the emperor's new hat rather than, I dunno, toggling it off?

Odin glamours? Judging on how awesome the odin gear in mor dhona is, it's going to look awesome.

They probably just segmented the Odin armors so you could glamour them accordingly.
If not, maybe some dark aura or other special effect.
