SE have any plans to keep White mages from being extinct?

Well if one of tanks bring less to table. Then that one will be undesirable or left out. Like how warrior tanks were looked down upon before the buffs. SE need to balance the tanks and healer better since they are adding more.

WHM lacks utility, if SE balance properly they should get it at level 51-60.

This class imbalance happens in every MMO and it may happen in Heavensward.

So the new healer will have a Protect that increases magic defense, and an AoE regen?

Whats so good about an AoE regen that you can barely use .
Raw healing isnt utility because every healer provides that.

Haste spell would of been nice if they didn't already give SCH a weak AoE version. Dia (DoT that reduce enemy's defence) would also be good though that is underwhelming for a level 50-60 spell.

Why each healer needs utility? Well SE are going balance the raids around SCH+ another healer or 2 non sch healers (the reason sch dont stack is cus SE is lazy/ dbl shield is broken). So each healer is going to be capable of healing regardless of whether 1 has slightly better potency or not.
So after that you look at what a job bring outside of raw healing.

Besides WHM is a little bland due to their lack of abilities . Them getting some utility at least make it more diverse gameplay.
In FF series WHM had more then just basic heal and nukes. Its only in FF13 and FF14 where whm is barebones.

This sort of doom-saying based solely on speculation brings nothing productive to discuss.

We don't know what abilities AST will have. We don't know what new abilities WHM and SCH will have. Even attempting to argue the vague notion of "utility" is fruitless without the proper information at hand.

When a SCH can heal 5,000+ points of actual missing HP from a tank with one single spell, then come talk to me.

ANYWAYS, these scholars are rare it's safe to assume. I wouldn't wanna ever do tough content w/o a whm to heal the groups derps during the learning process. And when there isn't enough healing to necessitate 2 healers, why, then the sch can go cleric and do some meaningful dps. Also, it's rare to see a group skilled enough to succeed without a whm.

Cure II, III and medica should make any sensible scholar realise the difference.

There is only one broken class in the game right now, and that it SMN. WHM has a place in almost every end game party just because of its amazing AoE healing potential. I would hate to be doing FCoB without our raid's WHM

Crit Adlo , Lustrate+ embrace.
rouse , fey illumin physick , embrace lust if you already shielded.
SCH may get another AOE healing spell (which in my opinion they should give to SCH imo).

Crit Adlo < Stoneskin - Adlo doesn't crit 24/7
Lustrate+ embrace < Cure 2 - You'll have to micro your pet and make sure eos/selene is not on cooldown/casting another spell to pull it off. Your lustrate is 3 per aetherflow. Once it runs out this also is no longer valid. Heck Divine Seal + cure 2 is even stronger.

On the contrary your defence for a SCH is actually making me consider it may be weaker to WHM. Your pet is on the field, it can die, it needs to be in range of all players to heal them effectively, it can get knocked back. It automatically casts embrace when a player is at 80% hp. It prioritises the SCH above other players. The pet comes with its own drawback and its healing potential is terrible on it's.

Lastly you have no clue what SCH will get in 3.0. It might become mediocre and get replaced by AST,
