You are right, that is a huge gap. And I can bet that there will still be when Heavensward is released.
Just think about it, what ilvl did you have when you made it to lvl 50? And if Heavensward will let you continue to lvl 60 I can't imagine that they want you to stay on lvl 50 content to grind ilvl to 115+ before being able to enjoy the new content.

I think you missed the point of that comparison, that was comparing the 2.3 and 2.5 trials to their ilvl caps which had already existed for three months

Yes. Why bother doing anything in the game if you can just progress halfway and stop playing till they nerf everything? Why would you want to skip content you could possibly enjoy?

A story related trial, the Chrysalis.
A trial that was designed for the fanfest in october, Odin.

What did you expect? ilvl 115 requirement?

Something for the mid tier user to enjoy rather than the hand holding and skipping crystal tower level stuff?

Established players yes. Ones who just started farming poe 2-3 weeks ago no. It's not smart to cut off all new players from new content behind a weekly token lockout.

Even if they made the content 15-20 levels higher, that wouldn't lock it behind the weekly gate.

These are the equivalent of hard mode trials, not extreme primals.

The for real reason is that non-extreme content follows a pretty normal progression.
All the 2.4 hard content was ilvl 80, 2.3 was ilvl 70. Now the 2.5 hard content is ilvl 90.

If you expected anything else you must not have been paying attention.
