I am not saying they will or will not do anything. Just what seems to make sense. If the starting gear in the expansion is better than i120, then there is no reason to keep the loot lockout in WoD. If they remove the loot lockout prior to the expansion, then there is no reason to have 1 set of i120 gear with no restrictions, and 1 set of gear hidden behind a weekly cap.

I'm sure in 2.55 or when they release the second half of 2.5 we will see unlimited poetic tomestones. Since there is no 2.6 and removing that cap at the expansion would be... pointless.

exept it work if the next big patch coming was only a raise of ilevel, where the next big patch behind 2.5 is an expansion with 10 more level, you can be sure that the first new raid from the 3.0 will probably ask a ilevel far more important than i130 for be started.
other point, why continue to lock content that will be not important 2-3 month later. i means when people will be level 60 with the starting gear for the level 60 raid, you can be sure that the reward in poetic and such will be irrevelant and people will simply overlook it.

don't expect that you gear from bc3 will allows you to start the new raid at level 60, at best it will offer you a good advantage at the start nothing more, after a few level you will probably get better gears from dungeon or quest. it's how work expansion in mmorpg industry.

Irrelevant for established players. In one of the recent interviews someone interviewing Yoshi-p said the i90 JSE gear from Snowcloak, Sastasha (Hard Mode), and Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard Mode) was hard for fresh players to obtain and Yoshi-P admitted that the antique gear used to make the i90 JSE was made in mind as a means for players to turn them in for grand company seals and that they would figure out a better way for fresh players to acquire that gear.

I don't expect to see a raise in the item level until 3.0, World of Darkness will be the conclusion of Crystal tower and the item level from that place will probably be 120 given LoA's was 80, and ST's is 100.

But when we talk about 'starting gear' in the expansion, what would that be exactly? The job-specific AF2 stuff at lv60? I feel there's a big question mark about how powerful that is going to be. It might crap over even the strongest lv50 gear, but it might not. And when you talk about the raid/currency gear in the expansion, then you run into lockouts, so the old WoD would still be there to gear jobs while you wait for slow weekly progression on new locked content. If they do plan to make an unprecedented move and having you instantly get gear in expansion that blows out everything that came before it, then they can either do what you are suggesting and remove old lockouts early, or introduce new plans for that gear to make it still relevant, such as letting you desynth it into highly useful materials for crafting.

No one is going to run a level 50 raid to gear their level 60 job. That is simply not going to happen. I expect the staring gear for the expansion to be on par with poetics or slightly better. This is also why I think that the WoD loot lockout will be removed prior to the expansion. This would give all players the ability to get i120 gear for as many jobs as they would like in preparation for this.

If its anything like Myth and Sol before, then the cap will be removed in 2.6 whilst a new tome is introduced: This happened to Myth in 2.2, and Sol in 2.4.

Oh god no please, I've been trying to level my GSM desynth on and off for weeks, and the only place to get the i90 stuff to desynth is in Coil T1-4, sure its fast but i spent like 20 runs the other day and won exactly 2 items.. gee a whole .45 skill up for 2 hours work.

that the point, no 2.6, we are jumping directly to the 3.0, i think they will remove most of the lockout for the 2.5 part 2. for give people more stuff to do while waiting for the 3.0.

Nope. 2.5 is the last patch before the expansion. This is why myself and others think that this may happen.
