If new players could get their heads out of their rears and actually take on advice that is given in polite/helpful/jovial manner instead of totally ignoring anything said then we will get their. It's not just players that don't want to helpp, theres plenty that have too big an ego to admit they are derping and accept any help.
I've never understood the NA mentality of using a random group (Duty Finder), where you have no control over composition, as the place to practice and learn.
Stop doing it. It's inconsistent. It's annoying for veterans and disheartening as a new player when people get annoyed with you.
Use Party Finder to get a group of like minded people with similar goals to practice & learn in a more controlled environment.
Use Duty Finder when you know the content back-to-front and want to do something quickly...
*Queues for practice mode as a dps* "avg wait time: 3 days, 4 hours, 55 minutes"
Every run is a practice run until the boss is cleared, people need to stop acting like there is some huge penalty for failing a fight. Saying i want a button that ensures I get better players in DF is just not going to happen. Someone said SCoB DF is terrible, I DF t6 and t7 quite often and the groups probably clear around 50% of the time. Maybe people on my datacenter just have more patience towards those who haven't cleared, but that isn't a terrible success rate for randoms.
Everyone knows the restrictions for entering DF, they are written right next to every duty you select. They are very very light, if you want stricter ones that is what PF is for.
I'd prefer to do content in faster queue with high fail chance rather than waiting for longer queue, then again the so called practice people dont really have patient anyway, all they want are free carry, i keep seeing people in learning party from pf leaving after couple of wipes even though "training" is written there, or even people left abruptly when they die for their own incompetence..
Then i keep seeing people who label themself as farm group but still dont know mechanic and they always blame each other.. Nothing will sort this out {:v)
Or the second wipe. There is a definite shift in attitude when going from Bcob to Scob. I did turn 8 the other night (first time), and even with three other people saying they were new, with the party appearing to be progressing, because the first wipe was around 90% and the second around 60%, the tank abruptly quits (it's always the tank) and the party disbands. In T5, even though there were first wipe disbands, people were generally patient, generally. Quite a few parties would have people understand the gist of conflagration and fireball before disbanding. Here in Scob land that's not the case. Here it's almost as if you're suppose to know the fight. You know that line people spout, "the Japanese use party finder for practice and duty finder for clears", that's the situation for NA/EU Scob.
But the same could be said for veterans. If you absolutely want a clear, do party finder. It's as you said, there is no control over the composition of the party, so veterans should not have any expectations when doing DF. The forums are a small subset of the ffxiv population, and NA/EU culture operates on DF is for practice. This isn't going to change any time soon.
2 Words.. Guild Hest. Wish SE would utilize it more.
I just wish they would let us enter duties with less than a full party. Please stop making us wait for a full 8 members just so we can enter.
