PSN Technicial Difficulties

I understand PSN is down and all, which is is annoying because of the hackers.

Why is PS3 & PS4 required to be signed on PSN account in order for us to start up FFXIV? Can't Square just patch this and let us just open up the game on PS3 or PS4 and just let us do our usual login process. I don't see why we need be on PSN in order for us to launch the game and and allow to login to our accounts and play the game.

If someone can explain this, it would be greatly appreciated because I am thinking of just switching to pc ver. or just quit the game in general for this issue.

Licensing issue between SE and Sony. People had similar issues with the PS2 ad DNAS for FFXI back in the day. Nothing new for people that played that game on console, but I can see how it could be frustrating for new people to SE's online offerings. Sony has had a lot of issues since PS4 launched, it's not just FFXIV that has been impacted. Then these circle-jerks that want to attack the networks are just making it worse. It's even impacting other services that happen to be depending on the same network hubs as well.

Best bet if you want to avoid it all-together is to go the PC route... but some may not want (or can't) afford the investment. If it is an option though, may be worth considering.

Is there a by pass to play FFXIV on PS4 with PSN being down?

Ya stayed logged in and keep a eye on the forms if you see or hear about the PSN going down, don't log out... if not it may be fine.. iv been logged in XIV for 2days now on my PS4.... and I'm not logging out till ppl can get back on ^^

Even if the PSN go down you wont get kicked off game, as long as you're power and Net stay on lol

Oh my, now when I fail to connect to PSN i get a new message, "Sony Entertainment Network is currently undergoing maintenance." instead of a bunch of troubleshooting nonsense.
