Welcome to "What stat is it anyways?"! Where the numbers are made up and the gear doesn't matter.

I miss gear swapping, at least that added some metagame to FFXI. Here it's just "get the higher ilvl so you can join the latest instances"
I would like to see more gear or stat choices.
Take the poetics caster set for example, like 9 of 11 pieces have accuracy on them. Seems a bit excessive. I wish stats like crit and det were more abundant on the gear. Even with having only 3 pieces of poetics gear my BLM has the accuracy for T13. It makes little sense to me why the other stats are so poorly represented on the gear. Given that this is the gear that your average casual will be getting a set of, it seems like the stats could be more diverse.
Vastly inferior? That is a bit of an exaggeration. No, that is a huge exaggeration. Does it impact dps? Yes, of course it does. Does it increase it anymore than a different, equivalent ilvl piece? Not really. Gear has set weight values for stats and it gives more of a stat if it has less impact. That weight makes up for any kind of choice. You can optimize your gear to not have skill speed, but it isn't going to up your sustained dps much more than a few points.
Is this about gears in FF XI?
wrong forum?
why is everyone off-topic and talk about XIV gear?
I have to admit, gear in FFXIV is far to vanilla for my tastes. Every single item you can 'upgrade' to is just the same as before with a recolor and a few extra levels added on. Even the original Guild Wars had more horizontal variety than this game does. The problem is the developers are too scared to add unique and interesting stats in the fear that one piece will be coveted above the others.
Truth be told this happens anyway, but people turn a blind eye to it for some reason.
It would be nice to have a little... no, a lot more flavor to our stats. There's only so much of the same thing a player can take before it gets stale and boring.
