By the way even if they did make Gil what are they buying with the Gil to beat you at anything?

They cant buy tombstones and armor is basically useless compared to the new stuff.

Housing? its not all that its cracked up to be only thing worth it is the chocobo stable coloring.

Materia? All those millions of Gil to make weapons would be gone by that time everyone will be bonded and not looking for bracelets and broke again.

Paying for runs to be beaten? that's already been done since the beginning of the game and you don't need a lot of Gil for that.

Making Gil does not put you ahead of anyone, I am broke and yet I have no problem getting through the game or worry about how big someones pockets are packed with gil.

I didn't on FFXI and I am sure tons of people had 50+ mil gil kraken clubs and but its how you play the game not how much gil you have

Prices go up because people are willing to spend more gil because of how easy it is for them to obtain it.

Everyone who can't keep up with new prices has lost. They can't afford things. This applies to anything you might want to buy. It shouldn't be that hard to understand: being made to work harder, or being unable to afford the things you want, is losing.

Prices go up based on demand, and large injections of gil into the economy, not because gil is being moved around the economy. If someone makes 5m off of a cash shop item that money is coming from another player, it is not generated from an NPC, and so it will not hurt the economy. If nothing else it will stimulate the economy because that person removed 5m from a player who was likely hoarding it as 5m is more disposable then 20 bucks at that point, and they may put that money into the materia or gear market. The alternative is that they spend that money on housing, which only removes gil that was likely just sitting on somebody's retainer. In both scenarios there is no harm done.

The worst case scenario is that the player hoards the gil, which still doesn't really HURT the economy, it's just moving gil from one hoarder to another.

The only people that this should theoretically negatively affect are the people who feel like they're being cheated because they spent hours leveling crafters and gatherers to make gil, to which I respond - why do you care so much how other people make their gil? I could make 5m in a relatively short amount of time because I leveled my crafters when there were several exploits that allowed people to do them quickly, would you still see that as unfair? Either way I'm doing the same thing that these money shop item sells are doing, I just have classes with large numbers next to them to "justify" it.

If there is demand for the wedding items and people are willing to spend gil to acquire them then I don't see how it's wrong to exchange them in-game for gil as long as it is sanctioned by SE. People spend their gil or don't spend their gil as they see fit.

Let's say there are 104 players, and all of them have 10 million gil each. 100 of these players are unwilling to spend real money on these items, but really want them. They'd spend gil for them. 5m gil. 4 of them are willing to spend absurd amounts of real money.

Each of these 4 people equally get 25 people to buy the item, all at 5m gil each. Gil is now distributed at 5m gil for each person for 100 people, and 135m gil each for 4 people.

Now, a really hot item appears. It's the Super Butt Slider 9000, guaranteed to make your butt (and hips) bigger, and it's extremely rare.

How much would this item cost before cash shop, and how much will it cost after? Do you think they'll be the same?

Considering I'm not willing to pay for marriage system with my real life cash, I wouldn't mind buying it off someone who will.

In a sense, players who spend or doesn't spend real life money can still get gold/premium.

But hey, clearly people want it to be easy to marry or nothing so I guess that's a no go.

Yes they will be the same because 4 people are not enough to support an entire market. If 20 super butt sliders go up on the market for 10m each, maybe 1 of those 4 people will want super butt slider 9000. That means that it is not a sustainable price, and it will go down.

EVERYTHING ends up on the market for absurd prices when it's new, and the price drops once it is apparent that everyone does not have absurd amounts of gil, and that those who do have absurd amounts of gil do not typically spend it frivolously.

The average person who is selling wedding bracelets will probably not sell more than a few of them. If they are selling them for gil the odds are they need the gil to spend on something, otherwise why would they waste 20-60 dollars on gil?

Because that gil is not being hoarded for the eventual super butt slider 9000 - that gil will end up back in the market. If that gil does not end up back in the market it will still be an even smaller percentage of people who sold bangles that are hoarding that gil.

The wedding bangles will bottom out, not everyone wants to get married, and those who do want the platinum model can most likely afford it with real money. People spending gil on these items will be an extreme minority. Those who make gil off of these items will be an even smaller minority. Those willing to spend this money on nutkins and super butt slider 9000s will be an even SMALLER minority. It will not negatively affect the economy in even the short term.

There aren't 20 of them though. This is an extremely rare item.

The problem with all these "Scenarios" people keep creating is that they can always be explained to benefit your point. I was looking for facts not Theory Craft.

Keeping with the topic, No one will become superior to another player because of Wedding Bands since we ALL end up around the same level cap, so again where is the Pay to Win? All I see is Convenience.

If people do begin abusing the system to an extent where they can buy full sets of 120 gear and 130 weapons with no effort then I'll stand corrected until then other than a few mishaps on SE's part I see no real detriment.

If more than one went up for an absurd price and only one person out of 104 people buys it then the price will drop until others are willing to pay for it.

There are people with hundreds of millions of gil in the market right now, and there is a reason that nothing sits much higher than 10m gil on the market board. Catering to a couple of people who can likely get the item them-self, or buy the item once is not a sustainable model.
