Shadowflare + Swiftcast

Using swift+ Shadowflare with your opening dots wouldn't hurt anything. And while SMN is about Damage over time, doesn't waste anything.

Are you saying it doesn't matter much either way then? I think i can slightly agree with using it as an opening on your very first rotation.

Depends on fight. Turn 11 I m using swiftcast once i need apply dots during dodging nerve gasses or other mechanics. In the opener i m using it always, but during the fight using it different purposes..

Well, for Swiftcast, using it at the beginning doesnt sound too bad, but if you take the battle mechanics and how high chances are for you to be ressing someone, specially the other healer or a tank, then wouldn't judge when to reuse it mid battle be a matter of such facts?

For a bad example: if your party already went through a wipe, yea, save it for a res.

While it's great that SMN can raise, your job is DPS. You MUST optimize DPS at all time.

Which, depending on other factors, may mean rez'ing someone.

I don't think using swift cast and shadowflare is going to be a big boost in "optimization" re-casting your dots and making use of your instant skills i believe does the trick. I really would like some damage charts on this tho, comparing the use of swift shadow and not. And once again this class isn't like the others, this dps has the resurrect option. Which i think is being overlooked and not given enough spotlight as it should. :(

Does not matter how big the boost is, dmg is dmg. I'd take a 1 dps increase if it meant using cooldowns in a different order or something of the like. Min/max, especially if you are a raider.
