Healing Gunner Planned?

The only thing that has remained true in the FF series is WHM is a healer, BLM is a magic damage caster RDM can do very little of both and primarily uses a sword of some kind. RDM likely wont be released until they are ready for a hybrid support class. I think it'll be more closely related to bard we have now with some slight healing ability and buffs/debuffs on attacks rather than be restricted to only healing.

Could be high damage per shot but low dps 'healer' where the healing gimmick is throwing down vials on the ground to make very high regen rate small aoe (the size of of the ABC waymark or slightly bigger). That way the play style would be setting up heal and support spots and then after that you just keep dpsing until you need to replace the heal and support spots because the tanks need to move to the other side of the arena. that way keeping the tank alive is up to the tank (he has to find a way to stay on the spot as much as possible while weaving through aoes). Will have extra skills for emergency and burst healing like throwing a special vial to dissipate the heal spot and heal the tank for massive hp in the process. I could imagine the tank groaning when they this healer in dungeons though, lol.

As a Dark Knight, Cecil's stats are weighted physically, and he has barely any Magic Defense. As a Dark Knight he has low MP and Spirit. In the remake version for DS and smartphones he can boost his attack power with the Darkness ability, but at the cost of health. Once Cecil becomes a Paladin, his stats increase, especially in Magic Defense and Spirit. Though Cecil loses all his levels when he becomes a Paladin, a Level 1 Paladin Cecil has 600 HP, more than even a Level 20 Dark Knight Cecil. Cecil can use White Magic as a Paladin, but his magic stats are not high, making him a mediocre support healer or someone to take damage for the team.

As a Drk, Cecil can boost his dmg, but suffers from low magic defense and mp. As a Pld his stats increase, especially Magic Defense and Spirit, he also more hp at lvl 1 Pld than a lvl 20 Drk.

*The 3 roles are arguable at best, first is due to str and vit being equal in iOS version of FFIII, second is from FFXI where DRK was designed as a dps but players were able to tweak it into a tank, and third from a game that wasn't even released until after jobs for 3.0 were already confirmed internally.

Looks like for the majority of the history of FF, Drk has had a main focus on damage instead of tanking, but I digress, yoshi wants his DRK to be a tank that's his call and he's made it. However, saying that DRK should of always been a tank because of it's legacy from past FF titles is untrue.

Healing gunner sounds like Chemist, which would be bad ass.

Come on guys. They can make it be be whatever they want. They don't have a specific trope to fit to here since DRK has been many things over the years.

I really hope for chemist as healer.... So much.

I'm pretty sure you're none of the people who designed any of the FF games from the 80s - now, so you can't really say they "should have been" when the design Square went with was a Damage Dealer that sacrificed HP to enhance their abilities or deal damage. Secondly, people who say "FFXI isnt the only FF game, think of the other games" seems to be the most fixated on how XI did things, despite in the past, it has never been a 'tank', even though tanks didn't matter in the offline titles. Cecil, for example, wasn't a 'tank' until he renounced his dark knight ways and went paladin - the actual of the FF series, iconic one anyway.

Does it use a weapon? - What class doesn't use a weapon?
Does it wear heavy armor? - So does Dragoon - Let's see how they work a tank, I suppose?
Does it have the ability to hold aggro? - You're not supposed to, means your tank is doing terribly.
"So there's the reason why it makes sense to be a tank" - That logic means WHMs are tanks too, they can hold hate no problem if they choose to spam medica II before the tank even gets initial hate.

I really hope it is agent like the picture. I love the gun art. And I don't think healing bullets are odd. The healers already have dps skills so they would have offensive bullets, but imagine firing a healing bullet across the stage to reach your team mate as it explodes into healing magic when it reaches them. It's a fantasy game. It's totally possible and I find it really exciting

Personally I'm not really excited by the idea of a healing gun class, but that doesn't mean that they might not find a fun way to make it work somehow. Guess we'll find out soon either way!

I really hope it isn't "agent." To me, it doesn't fit FF or its lore (it was used with one character, but so what?). The idea of a healing/gunner class just seems ridiculous. I suppose you could argue for chemist/calculator, but even that always sounded off to me. Overall, chemist sounds better than agent though.
