Flying Chocobos Confirmed

SIX Flying Mounts confirmed, a Seventh hinted at!

Huh, not sure how I feel about this. When I played WoW, the flying mounts were cool but they really distanced you from the world. After awhile all monsters, npcs, and landmarks were just tiny dots beneath you that you never noticed or interacted with.

I think to make them work the zones where you can fly need to have significant amounts of in-air interest, lots of flying monsters, npcs, floating islands, that sort of thing. So while flying you still feel you're apart of a world and not just a cloud above it.

I really wish you could see the stream because thats exactly whats happening. We will need them to reach the new world, floating islands, and possible aerial battles w/ the primal Bismark, etc. so I dont think it will "distance" us from it. In wow, they weren't really necessary to do anything. Just a perk.

I sincerely hope it won't be possible to fly everywhere. With the teleports every two meters and whatnot the open world is already pretty useless, I was hoping they would take a step away from that with the expansion and new larger zones, but this does not bode well.

Flying is only possible in the new zones, which are designed to utilize the capabilities of flying mounts instead of just being a random perk.

Just what I did not want. Flying chocobos looks so stupid.

Well, lucky for you, they said that there were already 6 mounts (7th was hinted at) with only one of which being a chocobo.

I didn't want flying mounts at all really. I think it takes away some of the sense of exploration and if you think there's no danger in the world now there will be even less when you are flying everywhere, at least it wont be everywhere.
