This was suggested in the NA feedback thread, but it would be SO much better if they took a tally of the merchandise ppl wanted, or pre-pay online, instead of wasting the entire day standing inline for merchandise you may not get. I feel especially bad for you guys, since your event was only one day, and that's not how it should have been spent at all. Here's hoping SE learns from this and manages to get it right next time. :/

Yeah the event overall was amazing but I missed out on so much because I spent half the event in the merch queue.
Likely won't bother with merchandise next time (much as I love my delivery moogle I could have waited and bought it online later).

Not only was the queue way to long (I gave up after about 90 minutes from keynotes) When I asked a guy who was handing out Merchandise slips if they would be putting any extra staff in the shop to help out, I've never been spoken to so rudely! Complete disgrace and he on his own ruined my day. He didn't want to listen to anything I had to say and just gave me a card with the SE store on it. If I wanted to buy the merch online I would have pre ordered it by now, one of the reasons people goto these events is for the stuff you can buy!

Next year T-Shirts that say "I survived the Queue!"

100% Agree about the Merc thinge. My wife, bless spent the majority of the time waiting in the queue. We tagged in and out once in a while to break it up but I wanted to do things with her not leave her waiting in a queue.

I went to the event today and I agree with the others; the merch queue was insane. I queued for 3 and a half hours but although it was unacceptable, I don't entirely blame Square. I know some of the guys working on the stall and they were working their butts off. There must have been a major miscommunication between Square and the event organisers because the rest of the events were flawless and extremely well organised. Once I was done with merch late afternoon I still had time to do almost everything else, minus panels and the cosplay event but it was rushed. Had there been 5 or so tills for the merch the day would have been perfect.
The concert at the end was the best part. Absolutely superb!

I agree the rest of the event was superbly organised, and the staff tthemselves were working so hard and were really lovely and helpful. It just felt like it should have been in one large room with much more payment facility. i will be honest and admit to flicking the Vs at that dastardly room while smoking my victory cigarette and clutching my moogle.
better arrangement of the queuing room (i mean merchandise), it was likely a HUGE h&s risk with the amount of people and the queue itself made the venue very difficult for wheelchair users to move around from what I could see.
The egg sandwiches were very nice though.

Yeah I can't fault anything else. Just that one rude person and the queue. Also the online store doesn't sell some of the stuff you could buy today so that guy has made my day even worse!
-
Yeah the wait for the shop was crazy, I wanted to throw my money down on STUFF but when I saw the queue I got the heck out of there. We waited to get in for the HM roulette event and when we got out the line had barely moved. Some sort of prepay system like Vilhem suggested would be way better.

I sympathise with people leaving, I don\\'t want to sound melodramatic but by about 2 hours into the queue I was actually crying with lower back pain from standing still so long, lucky we then reached the few chairs so I could sit for a bit. It still really hurts. I NEVER get back pain! Floor not very sittable either.
we did have a PF group for the merch challenge and rotated people in/out, some played support and got the goody bag buff for others, as we went straight from keynote to line, some got refreshments for the group to restore our hp, some of us tanked the line and whined about our back hurting etc. I felt so bad for those queuing solo.
Agree online pre-order for attendees would be fab, they could make up the bags in advance, show receipt and get bag, staff could take # of people in queue and get bags to front. No pointless queuing for sold out items, could restock high demand ones in advance and have extra at a booth like the one today for impulse buyers.
