This. I'm still new to the game and leveling up both as healer and tank. I can switch back and forth between the roles to grab the "in need" bonus. Although I have seen the roles in need change while in the queue, I have always received the bonus when completing the run.

The point of the 'Adventurer in Need" reward is to encourage people to play a role that is in high demand. I would almost always rather go DPS, but if the reward encourages me to go as tank, I'll change to tank and queue. Thus reducing the wait time for others. It's not about what you want, more about what others need.

Can indeed confirm the in need bonus applies when you press the button to begin queueing ^^ Friend was a tank and pressed when the tank was in need, while waiting it changed to healer in need and stayed that way until the duty popped, we checked again. He still got his bonus :)
