Ideas on how they can fix these horrible PvP queues?

There is no game in the world that makes players wait this long for such a short match. It is becoming increasingly alarming to me that the devs don't feel that this is a priority matter. I don't even think they realize it's an issue, based on comments from their most recent Q and A.

"However, if we make adjustments to both Frontline and Wolves' Den at the same time, it would become a bit too fragmented and we're concerned that matching might become difficult."

How concerned are you if FL and WD players are waiting 1-3 hours because of your game designs? The GC restrictions are crippling to FL because the queues become extremely skewed. Maelstrom is the most popular on our DC and it takes ages to get a game. The other two GC's rarely get first so nobody wants to bother because what is the point if maelstrom wins 75% of the time? As a result you have a double effect of too many players for mael and not enough for the others. And as bad as FL is, WD is absolutely crippling.

The difficult matchmaking and fragmentation they are trying to avoid through their design is actually far worsened by that design. And it's such a contradiction I just don't think they understand the consequences of the systems they implement. You can't say "we are worried about matchmaking becoming difficult and players not playing pvp" while at the same time watch as those issues plague the current system. There are fundamental issues that are diametrically opposed to what the devs say so at this point you might as well throw away any hope of help coming anytime soon.


BTW really hate this char limit so if someone knows how i can fix that please let me know.

Eventually they may, the problem is that so few people pvp that it isnt a major concern. They released frontlines in hopes that it would satisfy peoples need for pvp. However not a single hardcore pvper i know really enjoys frontlines. Since frontlines commands a larger audience then Wolves Den they have been balancing towards that mode of pvp isntead of wolves den, the set of PvP balance they did completely threw off wolves den balance.

if your frontlines que is bad then try changing GC, you may just be on the most populated on our battlegroup (i think flames) Gilgamesh is the 2nd largest world on our DC and a lot of people migrated towards flame over the last month or so

Yeah this is something i've been forgetting to mention.

Their whole MO in focusing on FL and leaving WD alone (which is ridiculous) is so that the playerbase doesn't get spread too thin over a niche market. But pretty much every hardcore pvper i know HATES frontlines. So the game devs are trying not to split that playerbase, when in reality, it's already split. Den players are getting the short end of the stick for no good reason.

I posted my idea for fixing the long queues in this thread, might wanna check it out and share your opinion about it.

Unfortunately, I will take any PvP reward tie to Frontline achivment will increase the PvP popoulation other than allied seals. Hunting mob that hunger for allied seals wont help increase the population but rather destory it. They are just horde that will move on once allied seals is outdated. It is better off to get PvP-oriented reward only such as armor with cooling animation effect etc. Anything but allied seals really, bring Hunting horde to the Frontline is like to drink the deadly positon just because you are thirsty.

For example, you will unlock Could custume for 500 wins as Malestorm, Tifa costume for 500 wins as Flames, and Aerith custome for 500 wins as Twin Adders, etc. This is more promising in increase PvP population that that stupid allied seals. By puting GC-unique custome with achviement also help to address players hording in one specific GC such as Malestorm. This also bring more incentive for players that eager to win to create a futher competitive PvP environment.

Well, people who do Hunts are the same people you can find about everywhere else in the game, maybe their main goal won't be to just enjoy PVP but at least we'd all get to play more of it (right now it's practically impossible to get in a match). Who knows, maybe some of the "hunters" might even start to enjoy PVP and play it more competitively.

Also, PVP already rewards some cool vanity gear but no one seems to care that much about it...

Exactly. I know a bunch of people that hunt and do Frontlines. True, it would bring some baddies and leeches into Frontlines, but that's gonna happen in anything that provides some kind of reward.

Nah, you will just turn the Frontline for leechers because they have no interest in PvP but want allied seals only. I can not see any advantage from your idea but I see a lot of more negative impacts. Here is the list:

1. Hutning Horde already devleoped a mob mentality mindset. They have already present a lot of horrid behaviour. This group will only bring negative impacts on the already fragiled FF14 English PvP community.
2. They are not interesting with PvP at all, they are there just for allied seals because it is more easy to access.
3. You are killing the real Hunting content. Who would bother to spend time chase after those S and A rank when allied seals is more accessible in the Frontline?
4. They are horde, they have no interest in PvP and they will move on in later patch once allied seals is outdated. You are not resolve the core issues.

I didnt bother to respond in your thread simply because your topic is really supporter seeking only. Anyone who replied differently will probably getting trolled. If your intention is truely to resolve CHAO server's que issue and increase its PvP population size. You need to looking into deeper. Reward have to be tie to achivment and make it not that easy accessable in order to make people to continue to play. The rewards also have to be GC-uqiue so you can stop people hording to one particular GC.

Do not use Soldier or Myth as example. Those are just instrucments S/E put in to avoid PvPers unable to swtich back to PvE like we already seen in WoW bg. PvPer bascially have harder chance to get into PvE because of gear disparity. Allied seal is not the answer we are seeking for
