Useful Abilities from other job classes

I said "then basically it gets wasted, because even if you have the TP(for another weapon skill), the buffs are gone (I said nothing about bloodbath being gone)."

I also said that it's a matter of preference, so please stop trying to make it into a debate or argument.

I will give these a try myself. I do okay with some fights, but others, particularly armed humanoid opponents, are very tough for me. Perhaps this information will turn that around. Thank you all.

What are you talking about? I posted that referring to the part about it missing, so the person doesn't think it misses all the time or something, not everyone is looking for an argument.

Ok, thx for the advice. I have been using Defender (marauder only at lvl 20 atm) when i tank and yes i know it reduces the dmg i make, but today i noticed when doing Behest, a lvl 38 Pugilist did more dmg than me (lvl 45).

In terms of gear i'm relatively the same if not better than the lvl 38's gear, but why did he do more dmg i wondered? We were using pretty much the same moves, surely Defender doesnt reduce that huge amount of dmg does it?

If i was to lvl all other jobs high, does that mean i would do more dmg even if i was using the same moves as i use now?

Were you both using optimal weapons?

Were both of your weapons the same in terms of damage-type? (blunt, slashing, piercing, ie)

Were either of your weapons different tiers of HQ?

I know Defender decreases attack power and all, and though I never personally tested how much, I don't think it would account for that magnitude of a difference alone.

I remember he was using Fist of the 6th Sun and i was using Jade Hora. What i suspected was that he might have higher attributes if he had other jobs at r50, if this was true, does it give him more dmg than me despite his lower rank?

His weapon is 100% blunt, and is a r35 weapon. He is just above the optimal rank of his weapon at r38 and is receiving full stats.
Your weapon is 90% blunt, 10% piercing. It is 5 ranks above you, and thus is not giving you optimal stats.

PGL is primarily a blunt damage dealer, and thus using a 100% blunt weapon significantly increases the damage done by your basic attacks. However this does not affect weapon skills.

Based on the info you just gave me, I would predict that he would do more damage than you with basic attacks, however your weapon skills should still out-damage his. This, of-course, depends greatly on how bad the penalty is for wearing a weapon 5 ranks below its optimal rank. I know it isn't too great, but it sure isn't helping.

Also his Level was 45 and yours is 31, that means that he has more atribute points to distribute into his stats than you.

I may be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that defender was a trade off of 10% damage for a 10% reduction in damage taken.
