Please fix lockouts and the class system clashing. It is killing alts and content.

Err, did you even read the first part of my reply which explains why having separate lockouts per job is not actually a good idea at all? And why did you level 9 jobs prior to setting foot into a raid? Even the levelling process for your alt classes (the same old fate grind festival over and over again) could have told you, that all forms of achievements are tied to your character and not to your job, as finishing one quest on a specific class/job automatically meant that this quest won't be available to any of your other classes/jobs on the very same character.

It's not the system that is at fault, as it does allow for real alt characters that behave just the way you and/or the OP requested. Just because you didn't level real alts, for whatever reason (may it be misinformation or just the lack of information at all), doesn't mean the system is to be blamed.

Now you have the knowledge. Just have to create new characters to get loot from coil for your alts

At what point did you come by the knowledge of the lockout? Your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th... 8th level 50? Did it really take you leveling to 50 eight times to no longer be "new to the game" and understand how the lockout works? Most people learn the lockout early enough to play an alternate character if it bothers them.

There's nothing to "fix". The lockout will be gone within a few updates anyway, just like for first coil.

Lockouts interact poorly with characters that have multiple classes. It's easy to understand that someone who has several real alts can gear them up all at the same time, while someone who has several classes on one character hits lockouts and weekly caps.

This could be fixed by making spending caps per class instead of using an earning cap and by making lockouts or weekly loot rules apply per class.

And yes, obviously the system should be blamed when it encourages players to make multiple classes on a character but then doesn't support it well. Most other games that have this feature don't have the types of hidden gotchas that FFXIV has. Fix the design instead of blaming players.

I see what you are saying here, but if something like letting all classes loot because they are a different class, and are running it "fresh" on that class is implemented, there would have to be some serious rules applied. The first exploit I can see is, gearing up one of your classes in a couple weeks if not sooner. The potential is there. Beat it on main class, get loots. Then run it again on the rest and only lot on the loots for that main class. I think it is fine the way it is. Just wait a bit like said earlier, they will be unlocked soon enough, not as soon as some would like but soon enough.

The issue with "spending caps per job" is, that you can purchase any gear with any job, so spending your cap of 450 Soldiery per week with your main job, doesn't prevent your alt jobs from spending their weekly "spending cap" on more gear for your main job. The same goes for looting, your alts can easily greed on gear for your main and if running in a static raid, everyone would obviously kit out their mains first.

Weekly cap in Second Coil and loot in ST have their reasons to be there.

We all would like to be free and run content as we liked. But once accepted the limits, they have good sides: you have done your weekly Coil or got your loot from ST, you go and do other things. You have less pressure to repeat it endlessly it so that you get all your gear ASAP. The more time passes, the more things you have the possibility to do as new content is coming (beast tribes, crafting, PVP, hunting, etc.)

Of course we all would like to have new content quickly, not to have to do super long grinds, etc. but new content takes time to be made, and that's the reason for weekly locks and long grinds.

As other people have said, establishing the lock for a job and not for the character would be quite problematic to implement, people would fish gear with as many jobs as possible.

One thing is having different classes and other having all the classes at top notch gear all the time.

While there is lock, you have to choose what class to gear before, or distribute among the classes you want to gear up before. Later, when the lock is gone, your secondary jobs can catch up a bit (but new content with lock will have appeared.)

In crafters for example it is disencouraged to have all of them top notch, the desynthesis progress in a class after some point starts to make lose progress in others, and along the way up, randomly makes you lose progrees in others.

The fact of the matter is you don't need full i110 on a class for it to be useful for T6-9. Any class i90+ will suffice.
