Don't tell me you would prefer Friday, Saturday or Sunday as their choice of Maintenance. o.O
Give or take that everywhere in the world, Mondays are dreadful and annoying, and just like cars built in the morning can have some disastrous endings (joking here ;) ) I'm quite ok with Tuesdays for Maintenance.
OP - I guess either you were misinformed, or just too hyped like me for a new Class/Job to "finally" come to this "fantasy"
By the way, you don't have to overthink much about thf (which is Rogue, not Thief) and Ninja, as there is no other options available, until they might redo the class system, at or after the expansion I've read.
While these are very interesting points...
...I would question as to why this system has been adopted (if such is the case) for something that does not involve a retail store or a physical product for that matter. It's based purely on digital distribution and SE (in theory) has the option to release content patches on any day of their choosing, as I'm sure they have staff on duty to monitor the FFXIV servers at any given hour of the day.
Haha! No way, I'm just suprised that they chose that day, given the information above. Personally I don't think it'd be much different if they decided to release patches on Mondays or Wednesdays.
Major patches usually come every 3rd month.
2.3 came 7th July, so 2.4 should be in October.
I say mid-November. Some major competition around that time and there is no better way to fight it than a badass new class + content.
I cant speak for SE, but as a software developer i can give what i personally look at. The big considerations of when we do a patch revolve around urgency, user impact, and employee logistics. From the employee logistics standpoint you want to avoid weekends. Also want to avoid mon/fri as those are frequent days taken as vacation (as well as observed holidays). So tues/wed/thurs would probably be ideal from that perspective.
I would guess that those days also align with the least user impact in this case.
So for planned patches it would seem to make sense to pick a day early in that window so you hopefully have time to respond to urgent issues still in that same timeframe.
I remember the DCUO devs stating that PSN Does client side updates on Tuesdays so devs have to roll their stuff out on that day.
Mid-late October. I'm really hoping it's either that or early November. If the patch comes late Nov-December, then it'll be nostalgia all over again, considering the first patch was late too :P
