The best place to tank it is in the north near wall.
But it's not just a different strategy. It's a better strategy. The difference between datacenters is some are more receptive to cooperation.

Its not always the case that a PUG is bad lol, I've had some really smooth raids CT/ST
Again I haven't tried it, but in my head I'm seeing the dragon on one edge- the skeletons being pulled to the far ends, and the dps having to split up more for their time between dragon and skeletons (because they're farther away).
it has been a long time since the last time i tanked CT, but there's a reason for both strategies if i remember correctly, in terms of distance skeletons-dragon, pulling it far from the middle can be a mistake, it forces you to step in the poison and if 2 of them get close they will link, this can be deadly for some bad ptys, and they are easy to kill before the get to the middle, but in its last phase when you don't have to worry about the skeletons, some ppl tend to move a lot around the dragon and they en up eating some breaths, both ways are correct and no one is wrong but if you ask me i would say the most efficient way is tanking it in the middle and the last phase in an edge, and if there's a wrong way, that's stealing hate from the tank even if he's doing it in a weird position, as long as he's not turning the dragon it's ok.
Oh boy, this thread again.
Primal data center is the only group of servers that tank the dragon on the wall. All the other servers tank it in the middle. Both methods have their pros and cons. Both methods work, and that's what matters at the end of the day.
My experience of CT on 2 different data centers.
Mandragora (Mana) - this method is established and always happens this way with no change
First Room: Alliance A and C each take a dragon while B takes all elemental.
Second Room: Alliance A and C each take a demon while B takes all imps.
Third Room: Each alliance take a succubus and an eye and fight on their own platform
Bone Dragon: Alliance B MT and DPS bone dragon at center - Alliance A and C focus on skeleton adds. 1 tank in A+C will take the 1st and 3rd skeleton while the other tank will take the 2nd skeleton.
Atomos: Only one way to do it really?
Thanatos: Tank at entrance, not in middle where the ghost pop. Tanks that are not tanking Thanatos will hold Succubus until its killed. Invisible buff team tank will voke it off previous tank when previous team loses the buff.
Allagan Bomb: Each team take their target, rotate clockwise only, kill adds.
King Behemoth: Alliance B MT and DPS KB - Alliance A - Bombs and left 2 towers - Alliance C - Giant and right 2 towers - Typically ranged DPS handle towers
Archeon: Alliance B MT
Balmung (Aether):
First Room: Free for all - chaos - do/call whatever
Second Room: Free for all - chaos - do/call whatever
Third Room: Free for all - chaos - do/call whatever
Bone Dragon: Free for all - chaos - do/call whatever, skeleton blowing up cause no one want to drag them to corners and bone dragon dies before last set of skeleton dies cause switching target is hard.
Atomos: Only one way to do it really?
Thanatos: Free for all - chaos - do/call whatever, but tank Thanatos in the middle so people trying to kill the ghost get bitch slapped by Thanatos's AOE too. An who want to hold Succubus, just let them chase the healers around.
Allagan Bomb: Each team take their own target, clockwise/counterclockwise who cares, mobs right next to each other? MEH. Adds? Who cares, healer heal through that shit.
King Behemoth: Free for all - chaos - do/call whatever - tanks on tower and picks their noses doing nothing but tower duty
Archeon: Free for all - chaos - do/call whatever
I'm on Primal, and only seen the strat done once. Either way is perfectly fine and have their own benefits.
North = less problems for potential cone AoE
Center = minimizes damage from purple drink, easier to control/notice skeleton adds, easier on healers to reach everyone with minimal movement
