The Discrimination Factor of Solo/party to Casual/Hardcore respectively.

thats an entirely valid point to this too

"i only have 30 minutes" means you need to make the best of your time, a game shouldnt have to adapt to players not having time to run 5 minutes somewhere, thats the players responsibility

maybe they should log out where they wanna do something at so they dont have to run?

I agree with OP on every point, though I hope that FFXIV would never implement the whole "instant teleport" thing as it destroys the actual experience of seeing people in the world itself.

I would also take WoW's "dungeon finder" over FFXIV's any day. Furthermore, I think that things like instances should have a system of automation in regards to finding other people to play with, whereas trying to find local levequest parties should be more of a chat-oriented endeavor. (on a side note, it would also help a bit with pidgeonholing in general)

I decided to quote this post because it seems to be exactly what I was going to post, except perhaps, with a little less sarcasm.

I can see where you are coming from, but, like Thevedis said, if you have that little of time to play, perhaps playing a game that affects multiple persons isn't the best way to spend that time. Should the whole game change to be directed towards people who only have a short amount of time to play? It seems like it would just make everything that much easier to accomplish, and then people would complain that there is no content that much faster.

Anyyywho, while making the dungeon finder optional does have a few pros, I think it would end up further dividing the community. Anyone can see that the dungeon finder is much easier, and fewer and fewer people would incorporate the old fashioned way. It would almost seem like they were trying to push the dungeon finder onto the playerbase, and the few left not using it would eventually be pushed to use it anyway.(Or struggle for an absurdly long time finding a party, and then that would just be pointless)

No one said anything about having only 5-30 minutes.

Regardless, shouldn't a company adapt it's product to consumers if they want to sell a long lasting product? How successful would the iPhone be if Apple decided only people with 10 hours a day could navigate through the its features? a very small amount of people are able to dedicate most of their time to a game and i would be willing to bet SE cares more about money than their "hardcore" playerbase.

"well only people who can use it for hours and hours a day deserve to use the phone at all, even though they purchased it..." again, absolutely ridiculous.

theres a difference

MMOs arent marketed to people who dont have time to play them
if you dont have time, you dont have time, period, and thats the point im trying to make
everything doesnt need to be sped up for the minority of players who doesnt play long at all, ever, but a few minutes here and there(also someone did say 30 minutes, thats why i mentioned it)


Basicaly, know what your playing before you play it, its like buying a gun without having an index finger to fire it and then getting mad the gun wasnt made for you

If you only have 30mins, you shouldn't be looking to join parties for the raid content. That's one of the things that pissed me off with people in XI. You get a party going for BCs/Misson/whathaveyou, it's takes a little bit to get everyone ready and then get to the destination, the whole time you might have one guy getting angry cause he joined *knowing* he had only 30-45mins and proceeding to blame everyone else because it took so long and he couldn't do it. Too bad so sad. If you wanna do something, you need to take into account travel/prep time and make plans accordingly. You don't get on when you have only half an hour and expect to join raids/quests/whathaveyou and inconveniencing other people when you end up running out of time.

And there's the rub: It was marketed to people with little time - Guildleves.

Yes, it's changing and moving away from guildleves now. But does that mean that all the people with less time that purchased the game before these changes should be SOL? I don't think so at all.

It's not an outlandish request that the developers not forget the group that exists within the MMO genre that have full-time jobs, kids, etc., especially when those people bought the game expecting content that can be jumped right into and enjoyed without needing to dedicate your life to it. An easy and streamlined grouping system is just one aspect where the timesink can be removed.

Fair enough - i didn't see that in his comment. I guess it would be more accurate to say that I am not referring to people with only 5-30 minutes.

And as for the rest, it depends entirely on how the game is built. It doesn't have to be a timesink like that to prepare. That's what I would request. Remove the timesink related to getting a group together.

people with little time can still do guild leves
they can still do ALOT of things
but guess what, they still had to run places before too
and gather a group if they wanted one

so why would they change that now? its why we have the anima system, this can be chalked up to trying to dumb things down every further for a group that is a major minority
