If I'm getting a 2nd Relic, do I still need to fight the primals in order?

You have to do them in the exact oder. You can't beat them all 3 and go to Herold and get your Relict.

When you do a Relict for the 2nd to 9th time you have to:

1) Find unfinished weapon
2) Craft class weapon and insert Materia (or spend GIL to buy it)
3) Fight Chimera
4) Go to Ampador (classic 2.0 version, not Historical Ampador)
5) Fight 24 mobs with unfinished weapon
6) Fight Hydra
7) Fight Ifrit
8) Fight Garuda
9) Fight Titan
10) Buy Bottle of Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil for Myth and return to Gerolt (buying can be done in advance at any stage)

No chance to skip anything on this list or do things in advance. You HAVE to do everything when the quests ask you to do it.

I agree with you apart from the last step you listed. You can buy the oil at any time, you can even have multiple oils if you store some on your retainers. I found this very helpful when I was getting mine (I have all 9) as I could buy the oil when I was getting close to the cap for the tomestones and I was waiting for a chance to kill Titan.

There's an Ampador HM?

Ingame it's called Historical Ampador I think. I just like to call it HM just like all others revamped dungeons. I changed the wording in my post accordingly. And Yeah, the Oil can of course be bought in advance just like the Thavnair-Mist to make your Relict +1. Also changed that piece of information.

Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan are all part of the same step so all you have to do is kill them regardless of what order, with the quest active, to gain the items.

It's kinda funny how half the answers int this thread says one thing, and the other half says the opposite.

If it's true that you can do HM primals in every order,why the duty list (i don't remember how it's called on the HUD lol) that appears on the right of the screen, put the 3 of them in a precise order?

there are 3 different steps to gain your relic weapon, while fighting primals, here.

I think 16bitBounty is mixing Relict up with Rowena tokens you get for defeating all 3 Ex primals lol.

Believe me, there is an order to follow. I have 7/9 Relict weapons and just made my last one 2 weeks ago so it is skill kinda fresh to me. Just check post # 11 for the relevant steps you have to do. And don't listen to the people telling you that you don't need an order. But OP got his 2nd Relict anyways so we can let it be lol.

still, on the journal if I remember correctly, le last Relic step consist in "bring xxx, yyy, and zzz" (and the mitho oil that i never remember the name lol)
and then it says you can find xxx,yyy, and zzz in Ifrit HM, Garuda HM and titan HM"

basically, le last step looking in the journal consist in "BRING ME STUFF, I WANT IT"
but on the duty list, they appear in order, and you have to defeat every primal in order, for the next step to appear..

People are getting this mixed because EX primals.

Relic quest: You need to kill in order: Ifrit HM > Garuda HM > Titan HM

Weekly Rowena's Token quest have all three Extreme primals as one step, so any order will do.
