Better to use it and be sure they die then not use it and fail. It's not like you'll fail the fight if you use it and if you really NEED the LB to win... you're probblay not going to win anyway.

I usually use LB on nails if it looks like we aren't DPSing them down fast enough. I think it isn't a great habit to get into though since you can't use it on extreme mode or you'll likely wipe the raid. Honestly though, lb shouldn't be needed for any part of the HM fight. If you DO use it, the nails would be the best place to do so, if you have casters. Just my opinion though.
It's your LB, use it when you feel the need to. If other people going to whine like 5yo girls like 80% of the community does then they can play the LB'ing class themselves.
So you just ignore them and do as you feel you need/should.
I'd rather see a caster LB the nails and have them die than have the raid wipe.
Melee DPS get plenty of other opportunities to feel like a badass casting their LB3.
