Gotten water and wind shards/crystals.
Also blacklip oysters have occasionally desynthed to black pearls.
Clear demimateria III off a silver sovereign nq.
Tons and tons of pigments.
Got to 76 last night, I stocked up early and had a retainer full of fishies, got enough fine sand to make my own Australian sized beach, tons of pigments, water shards, crystals , and a few lures, I guess it means I don't need to vendor all the worthless fish, just wish the shards ratio was a lot higher for higher lvl fishes
Got to about 75, myself. Besides crystals, haven't really gotten any results to get excited about for stocking up on all that fish ahead of time. It's still a faster way to collect shards than botanist of miner.
Can anyone recommend a good leveling fish? Desynthesis increase seems to go off the vendor value rather than the item level, but I was surprised to discover that Northern Pike, with a vendor value of 11, seem to give me skillups.
92.38 CUL desynther here.
Mostly water shards/crystals with a few earth mixed in, and clear demimateria, large quantity of pigments (in not too much variety), TONS of fine sand, and some dark matter.
Increases with fish item level
The black pearl is interesting, I haven't seen any random items like that from fish I've desynthed yet. Similarly, I've desynthed some 100 silver sovereign and not seen a single clear demimateria III yet :(
At this point, I regret all the time I spent on desynthesis since CUL desynthesis seems extremely limited. The thing I regret most is that 100% success desynths don't yield shards/crystals. (Guess I was just unlucky, I was able to get a shard from a low level fish today... must've been a bunch of fish which never yield shards)This means leveling desynthesis to be able to obtain shards is not practical unless you're constantly going to rotate crafts to intentionally de-level and re-level desynthesis.
Despite being able to get shards, it still seems somewhat useless since shards could be obtained much faster on MIN or BTN much easier and faster.
Wasting your time leveling cul's desynth :p
@ poor nie lol
You should have thought about the importance of desynthing and which classes you need.
I'm going for
-bsm
-weav
-alch
Because bsm can desynth
Mrd, pld, mnk, and mettalic furniture / gear.
Weaver can do a lot of clothes and a variety of furniture.
And alch due to all the primal whm weps requiring alch to desynth.
I have some fc buds working on ltw and carp desynths.
I just really don't get y ppl would waste their time on cul.
Shards? You can mine/ gather back then, so y stop now?
It's cheaper?
You either spend time to save gil or you spend gil to save time.
Well, in the first place no one knows much about desynthesis so far, so why not kick off with the one that costs nothing (and which actually makes a profit!)? Yes, it takes time, and in the same time that you spend desynthing a stack of fish you could make more money simply by mining shards (for example), but it gives the rest of us something to do while the pioneers invest big money in desynthing crafted stuff.
Also, while nothing I've seen so far in desynthing fish is worth the trouble, I've only just dinged 50 on fishing and I am not equipped to catch big fish. It may be that those will give items that are of equivalent value to the other high-end desynths.
It's too early to rule out culinarian, or rule in the other desynths. Whatever, though, it makes sense to do culinarian and let it be eroded by the other desyntheses if those turn out to be smarter.
