Reducing cast times for BLM would make them too powerful. With only increase to potency they still have the long cast times.

I say more power to 'em! It's not like the boost is being given to Flare or anything. Though in honesty, I would like to see Freeze given a little something extra for the trouble of being Flare's opposite. Like... maybe a Petrify-esque effect with diminishing returns or something?
So. . . that means BRDs are still the weakest of them all. . .:/
or am I wrong. . . enlight me. . . :O
Yes that was the math i was looking for as well that I had seen earlier. However I fear this will cause balance issues still. It is very true in t7 that blm have a hard time, but that is not a turn that requires high dps anyways. BLM can cross class E4E and Virus (albeit with longer cd's), so only Raise helps SMN out. In any case job balance is what I am afraid will be getting lost since no other dps classes got any type of comparable or helpful boost. It will be interesting to see the numbers blm are posting in the coming weeks in coil, through this will truly validate or invalidate anything i have said.
SE boosted BLM single target DPS solely because the job suffers more then any other from 'move out of the fire' mechanics. Which, by the way, this game is loaded with. Their long cast times and inability to do nearly anything 'without' a long cast time drop their damage behind others in fights were it matters.
This 10% (see previous math poster) dmg increase is not going to turn them into gods nor break the game. Only the very very best will notice it, as they're the ones already able to time and maximize their damage ability through precise casting and dodging. Knowing what's coming at all times and planning to prevent it hindering them.
For the vast majority of players, this will only bring them closer to the other DPS classes in single target fights.
Not sure how raising our ceiling by 10% makes us kings of ST but ok. I main a BLM and my alt is a MNK. I get people's frustrations with BLM buffs; I really do. Thing is I just simply cannot agree with nerfing our AOE. We have a little better ST damage now so our utility in endgame raids is better.
Giving us this buff gave us more utility. That's how I see it anyways. The way I see any argument that states a nerf to our AOE should happen doesn't make any sense. In that case you are essentially not differentiating us from a Melee class only now we would have even less utility. We wouldn't be able to ST like a melee and our AOE would be no where near what it was so no need to bring a BLM for that.
I think a boost of some kind was necessary but at the same time I wouldn't want a boost that is obscene. 10% seems about right.
Honestly, I don't get why anyone would be worried about a small increase to a job that was previously nerfed when melee were buffed. They obviously are balancing it out right now.
Can someone care to tell me what "ST" stands for in this thread?
