How am I meant to level with a friend now?

this is because your friend didn't link. If he links, he will get a similar sp value as you, if you are within a few levels of each other.

XP chains add more of a goal when grinding mobs, majority of people thought it added a nice mini game to grindin xp. That's pretty much all I'm saying.

Sarcasm is a natural reaction to something that seem extremely dumb, and a lot of people complaining here give out exactly that expression.

You don't really need exp chains to have basically the same minigame. Give yourself a time limit, ans see how many monsters you can kill between that limit, or how much sp you can gain. Pretty much the same speed game.

Mind you, if they'll implement it, great, but mostly because it encourages grouping and fast efficent killing than because it adds any real fun.

You have got to be kidding me. Took less than 4 months for me to get to 90 with two different sub jobs and a lot of missions under my belt.

I grinded in XIV for 6 months and got to 33.
