I'm not saying I want to play FFXI, i'm saying that the game had some good ideas I wish they would implement into XIV since, you know, they are both FF games...

FFXI only had an in game limitation of 10 history slots... FFXIAH (although third party) solved those issues, which they really were not issues in the first place.
This games economy is currently having issues due to many things, not the market boards that everyone likes to criticize.
90% of end game gear being rare/ex and unsellable, crafting being far to easy to level... over-abundance of crafting materials making it pointless to farm them for gil...
LOL, Well, RL Auctions are kinda suppose to be that way, and RL Auctions there is no undercutting, there's "overcutting" XD. 3,500.. can I get 3,500 ( raises hand) can I get a 4,500? and goes up and up. In FFXIV, the price just keeps getting undercut. is really isn't a "medium/constant price" One minute it's 200g, 3 days later it's 1k, then back down to 500g.
In a gaming environment, Having to know the price of every posted item , allows people to sell for 1g cheaper and the next will do the same until eventually 1 person buys the cheapest item. Having the prices blindfolded, allows for people to gauge the price based on price history to "possibly" undercut in a fair manner. Not this 1-10g stuff.
But hey, that is only how I feel about it :P.
Games that take economies too real or too serious fail
I feel that the people who want a deep economy want people to rely on them, a bunch of hungry poor people grinding for months just to make/buy something good.
The only way to make a deep economy is to make people suffer with extreme rare loot and scarcity
I like FFXIV because it's a rich economy where there's an abundance of everything so that everyone can prosper together. And no...blind auctions are terrible XD
