Suggestion: Greed, Need and "I'll take it if no one else wants it..."

So uhm...just to be clear you want a second greed button? Because Greed = Want. The options are...you "need the item as an upgrade", or you "want the item but don't need it as an upgrade", or you "don't want the item". Why do we need a fourth button? I think that pretty much covers all the options.

I do like the idea of being able to "downgrade" your roll but I feel that could potentially be abused.

I would fit the roll in between Need and Greed. I don't know what to call it but here's my idea:
Need: Current job can equip the gear
Feed: You have the job high enough level to equip the gear
Greed: You want the gear.

And yes, please allow us to downgrade our rolls in case of error.

So the suggested new option actually is same as "not press anything" currently, but a speedup version ^^;

Just add the condition to "pass" - If all pass, its allocated to a random player inventory.

If they dont want it, let them throw it then. For me, I usually wait till I've heard from the players who have the ability to need. If they dont want it, and I can use it, I greed.

I wouldn't mind a third option, but I'd have it differently... Say in a level 50 instance, you can NEED if you're the class the item drops for... but then ONLY GREED if you have that class at 50, and then a third option (go with your WANT idea maybe?) for people who don't have the class at 50. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to lose a greed roll to someone who hasn't even unlocked a class. :/ And yes, I could always go as the character I want an item on, but for me personally, those classes are alts and are thus way less geared than my main, or if they're newly 50 I'm not yet totally comfortable with the rotation.

If you check other threads on loot rules, it's mostly players trying to make logical arguments to justify intrinsically selfish behavior. These players will oppose any options that infringe on their ability to roll purely for vanity or trolling purposes.

However, I'm not sure that adding more restrictions on looting would be beneficial, either.

What is the point of forcing items onto a player if no one wants it? I don't need to be wasting time having to toss out every item that gets shoved into my pockets, despite the fact that I PASSED it!

they should seriously fix the loot system, i think 'luck" is not a good way to toss special items around, i've lost so many things because i wasnt "lucky enough" to get it. i entered a dungeon once where the item that i needed FINALLY dropped and i was like NOW ITS MY CHANCE i rolled NEED on it cuz i really needed it, but the other WHM rolled NEED and got it which she clearly didnt need it cuz her ilv was about 98 and mine was around 89 so i told her " i needed that :( you have a better item, you dont need it"(it was something for a WHM) but she was like "I DO NEED IT" -______________-' so i was like "k". thats so messed up (T_T) the Dungeon should do a quick scan and see who actually needs the item, i see ppl greeding for items that are level 50 for classes that they are not even at lvl50 yet(some didnt even start the class) and they get the item while i roll greed cuz i do have the class at lvl 50 and need the item but dont get it. Luck is just not the way to go, they should fix this

@hdepaula - it's ust the nature of it I guess. I was running Brayflox normal for my Battlemage set on my BLM and had everything but the boots. After another good thirty runs they dropped and the lvl 50 WHM needed and won... Galling but I guess if they can need they will... gotta get those company seals. I got the boots in the end, it just took a while. It's difficult especially with glamor gear too. Recently I wanted the foe striker boots to complete my foestriker set, but my Bard is 50 lol so when getting the low dungeons in duty roulette I hoped they would drop but wouldn't need if there was a low level who could need on them. That's just me I guess. Again I got them eventually without depriving anyone :)
