I agree, it's annoying. Especially with dungeons dropping their own gear sets, and Darklight pieces, and clogged with crafting materials on top of that, God help you if you're looking for a specific piece for glamour or something.

Not everyone plays at your speed. Seeing that you leveled a 2nd character simply to dual-log raids, I would assume you plow through things pretty quickly. What about people who only play a few hours a night, a couple days a week, a brand spankin' new character working their way through the massive story, etc. The gear that people are getting from dungeons does in fact have it's place. Maybe not for YOU, but for the greater population.
I haven't seen the healer body either :( *shakes fist*
Crafting mats should only come from the side chests. It's a slap in the face to beat the boss and get filtered water.
It's do difficult to get the i70 gear sets. I still havent even seen the healer body drop. :/
I agree, I recently leveled a fresh toon to 50 and was pretty annoyed on how rare it was to obtain sub i70 gear. If I didn't already have another toon that could buy i90 gear, it would have taken a while to meet ilv Requirements for CT/primals.
I think they should at least put them in separate pools. Let crafting ingredients have their own roll and not displace gear drops.
Capping your currency weekly is 2.5 hours of play tops. I dunno what people think goes into "plowing things pretty quickly" but I generally log in for 15 minutes do my roulette and then sit around or log out.
Leveling the bard... basically the same thing. i'd log in, queue up for daily, and od story quest while waiting on dps queue. Maybe an hour total a day.
I'm glad it works for you, but again, you can't apply your speed at obtaining items to the greater player base and expect for it to make for a decent argument. Not everyone caps tomes each week. But even if they did, that's what, one piece of solidery gear a week/every other week for higher priced items? What do they do in the meantime? Grind myth? What if they're trying to gear a second job and are spending all their myth on books?
Ah was it 60? It's been months -_-
So yea correction ilvl 60 gear.
Well ignoring the fact that you suggest capping soldiery is a speed of obtaining items that the greater player base is unable to accomplish then suggesting they are spending HUNDREDS of hours working 1st on Atma then on Animus.... (really your suggesting they don't have the play time to gear up but that they have the time to get 12 atma before they need to burn myth?)
./points at coil 1-4
I'd also love to see the crafting mats drop from the side chests, rather than the main boss chests. As it is I almost never see anything BUT mats. Whether or not some of the player base finds it useful, the drops do exist and should be reasonably obtainable; as it is it's a fight to get gear from the right class to drop at all, but it's several times worse when you're fighting crafting mats for it. And I say this as a crafter who enjoys being more easily able to obtain mats - I just want them on the side chests instead.
Nowhere did I say that all of my examples would encompass one person. Pick your flavor, and run with it. The examples I gave are still perfectly valid. And yes, coil is a valid option as well, but not everyone does all content. The joy of an MMO is that there are typically several paths you can take to gear yourself.
Anyway, I agree with the OP. Mixing crafting mats with boss chests is poo :(
