That's great, thanks for the help with it, will have to get myself to Camp Tranquil and do the mission tonight. Loving this game and really want to get into everything that it has to offer, but its a bit daunting when starting out, somehow I have managed to get to lvl 30 despite my lack of knowledge in quite a few area's so sorry if I am being a pain!

Actually, the xp is split as if you were in a party, so both of you will get near full xp. The reason you see the chocobo get half.xp is because you likely have armory and rested bonuses. Chocobos don't benefit from any bonuses besides the FC buff for them.

I have a rank 9 chocobo. Some tips to leveling: first of all it is a huge grind. Anyone who has a rank 10 bird spent hours just grinding level 50 mobs for the exp for their bird. They do not get extra exp from fates or quests or anything else, so have your bird out with you whenever you are in the open world killing stuff.

Make sure your achievements log is unlocked. Your bird will get exp from the companion achievement of killing 100 mobs of the same level.

The amount of total points you can get is just enough to max one tree. So if you buy that first skill in healer tree and then decide you want a tank you cannot buy the last skill on the tank tree. To get the chocobo barding for one of the trees you need to buy all the skills on one tree. In a future patch they will allow players to reallocate points but right now you cannot.
