And technically this creature, though being a Cephalopod, is NOT an Octo-anything, as it has TEN tentacles, not eight. This creature is actually more likely a type of Squid, and falls in the category of Decapod.

Well, my previous statement needs partial revoking. We still don't know the entire fight though. It's possible something may happen as a phase change. I'm still keen to find out the whole thing, but i wont be disappointed if theres no angry orange octopus :P

It seems to me that, in this game, whenever SE wants to provide an homage to stuff from previous Final Fantasy games, they go out of their way to make the model look like the classic Amano designs - look at Gilgamesh or the Magitek Armor for examples.

If we ever see Ultros in-game, I think we can reasonably expect him to have the goofy smily-eyes and the wreath of fangs that we've come to expect from our pervy octopus friend. :P

Some people forget that Ultros is an Octopus and a Kraken is generally a Giant Squid.

I was mad when I heard it wasn't Ultros, then I saw the size of it and saw it throw a tank then slap it to the ground, I wasn't even mad anymore.

Kracken = squid like sea beast(not octopus)

Ultros =jellyfish/octopus hybrid, has never been called a Kracken in any FF game hes appeared in. However we have multiple Kracken mobs in several ff many of which are NM type mobs, why is it so hard for people to read.

Don't care it ain't Ultros. I just wanna see those Lalas fly!

Don't worry, OP. I thought Ultros too. And I am also very sad.

Maybe it's just me but I'm pretty familiar with all krakens in FF - As well as Octopie and Ultros isn't a Kraken.
