Beyond a point, DF is pretty much useless, and that needs to be fixed

There's nothing quick about it. It takes a DPS 40 minutes to get in, and they get no practice whatsoever when the tank or healer auto quits because someone says they haven't done it before. They typically only get 15-30 mins of practice otherwise, and typically then only the first phase or two. It's not effective practice in the slightest, so your point is moot.

that's usually how long practice pts go for.

This is for ALL queues (not just the high level ones) because people leave things like Lost City, or Pharos all the time too. DPS already have huge queue times, so it really hurts them to have to do it 2-3 times before a group actually stays.

I would suggest the way to help resolve this is HUGE lockouts for people that leave a group say in the first 15 minutes. When I say HUGE I mean like 2 hours before you can run ANYTHING (queue or not). This would stop tanks, healers, and yes even some dps from leaving groups on dungeons they don't want to do (don't queue for a roulette if there is something on that list you don't want to do!)

I say a huge penalty cause right now with 30 mins, you can go have a snack and watch and episode of Futurama and come back and it be over. The Penalty needs to actually MEAN something.

haha did exactly that last night after i had to leave a group with a trolltank:)

i remember my first time trying to clear some content and people would ask if anyone was new and i would just keep quiet until they got bored and started, cos if i said something they'd just leave, and i knew i wasn't gonna be the worst player there anyway

Solution: If you want to clear content..... LEARN TO TANK!!!

Sorry. This sounds like another DPS whine about long queues.... and thats what the problem is. Fix the problem yourself. be the change. Learn to tank, love to tank, get insta-queues, and this will not be an issue.

My Character (Robin Locksley), yes ROBIN HOOD.... was a ilvl 88 Bard back around new years, and I couldnt tolerate waiting hours on hours for coil PF groups, or even just the 3 roullettes that were available back then...... so i lvled both tanks, and now i get all 6 of my roullettes done with my beastmen tribe quests done in less than 2.5 hours...

The Duty Finder is NOT BROKEN... Lets lay out this scenario for you.

Im solo playing. No one in my FC are online at the moment since its a quiet hour in the middle of the afternoon. Sooooo I did all my roullettes, there are no party finder parties up for some primal content, let me DF Garuda Extreme since I am a tank, I'll pop immediately. Figure, I can give this 2 tries, see how the group is, and if it sucks, i'll go back to crafting, whats the harm... i've beaten her before, Im only going in for a second ring for one of my alternates.....

I join a group that on the first attempt can not even get to the tornado phase...... the second attempt 2 DPS are dead during the first phase of the two sisters.... this is obviously going no where. Too many rookies.... if they can not get to the tornado, then what is the point, echo buff is not going to help the mechanics (keeping the pillars as pristine as possible, and getting out of the LOS).... soooo yea, ive invested (WASTED) 10-15 minutes already..... and some one in my FC is asking for help with his relic quest, so i'm gonna go walk him through with insta queues, thanks, see ya later, peace out!

Did i do something wrong? Oh jeez, I should be more sensitive about your 40 minute queue time, and stay for 40 minutes out of the courtesy of my own life...... remember this... YOU ARE NOT ON MY SERVER, so even if i did carry you through to victory, there really isnt a high probability that we will ever play again together..... You now just wasted 40 minutes on content that might not be easy enough to one shot, but shouldnt take more than 15 minutes of my time...... and 3.) This is a game, and I should be allowed to enjoy it too, not be manipulated by bonuses to carry you through when i face palm my way through it.

Im really not saying this to some like an @$$. But the point is this.... the system is NOT BROKEN, it is on the player(s) to fix the circumstances. If you want to shorten queue times, go become a healer or a tank. Just because you want to be a dragoon, and only a dragoon..... sorry theres enough of you. Bards alike. Try being a tank, and realize that due to the low population you are an integral part of the party, DPS is replaceable.

If the "roll tank" answer is not for you.....

Form your own party finder group, as mentioned earlier. While waiting for the group, go work on your beast tribes, go craft, leve-level your alternates, or level your chocobo.... at least you can be productive in the wait for a group to form for technically "outdated" content.

join a FC, and have them run you through the content you are falling behind on. Most FC's help their own.

Make a tank friend and queue together, that should shorten your wait time significantly.

Or.... the best scenario.... wait for it.........

Wait til the next patch when Square Enix nerf's the Extreme primal content to where Titan Hard mode habits now..... i remember the days in darklight gear that titan hard mode took a whole day worth of party finder groups to complete (back in the laggy ps3 days).. now its a joke... I dont even wait for buffs, and I have 2 manned titan with a healer after the heart phase without the echo....... Dont worry. be patient.... by the end of the summer, Garuda,Titan, and Ifrit will be easier than Chimera

problem is ppl use df hoping to get an experienced group, then leave if they don't get it. I guess its different from fight to fight but if u queue for ex primal or t5, you should probably expect inexperienced/learning groups. Ppl queueing for those hoping for 1 shots should stop smoking....

More often then not I am finding pretty awesome groups in the Duty Finder. My brother and I just started the extreme primal storyline. First group for Garuda ex could not down it because of dd issues but amazingly people did not leave the duty. I assume they needed to practice the phases just as much as we did. Time ran out on that one unfortunately because we were all still having fun. So we queued for one more and that group was spectacular someone explained the fight to the three new people to the fight and on our second try we destroyed Garuda. I was pretty ecstatic so I don't think the duty finder is useless, it has it's ups and downs but sometimes it can be a lot of fun.

I will eventually tank, but with the DF in its current condition, tanks can be just as easily screwed over as healers if a tank or healer leaves, because, most of the time, you're simply not going to get replacements on the harder encounters. Hell, I stopped ticking the "in progress" box as DPS because it just wasn't worth it. Tanks and healers can opt to simply leave and requeue, of course, but that's making the situation worse for half of the people involved, and not necessarily better on the tank/healer in question because they're just getting another fresh set of people that don't know the encounter since the DF never lasts long enough for most of them to learn it.

So now we have people wasting each other's time on purpose by leaving early, and then other people wasting everyone's time by continuing to wipe on the first or second phase since they're not being able to get past that point of the encounter because they're shuffled back in with people with even less experience than themselves. It's like a treadmill of stupid, constantly drawing in fresh derp, until you just give up and disregard the DF altogether. Everybody ends up wasting everyone's time. That's obviously broken from multiple angles.

Still do not see how its broken at all....

The point is the same as any other MMO.....
