Pretty much this. Musketeer introduces its own weapon(s) and it has a guild. That points pretty strongly to it being a class.

Warrior -> Samurai
Ninja -> Assasin
Pugilist -> Monk
Lancer -> Dragoon / Chocobo Knight
Marauder -> Dark Knight

Ninja isn't a class.

A good example of a gunmaster in a game would be Noel Vermillion of BlazBlue.

given the fact that it has an existing guild, class.
also, when thinking jobs don't think the job should be an exact parallel of the class. Hopefully the dev team will be more creative then that.
Jobs being better at party play would mean that the job you have is more role appropriate to classic style party dynamic.
