I see the v1.0 references as less of a nod, and more of tying up loose ends.

And I immensly look forward to seeing what Urianger can find out from Warburton's journal for this reason. This story about Minfilia's father and the man who sought to resurrect him (Neille) is far from over.

Both Greinfarr and Mumuepo appear in Halatali, Greinfarr as a NPC who opens the door and Mumuepo as part of the last boss. Both are connected to Niellefresne, Greinfarr being his best friend and Mumuepo being the Thaumaturge who was going to help Nielle with his little Warburton-revival.

So many names to keep track of... >.<

I need a glossary.

Mumueppo was also the old thaumaturge guildmaster as I recall. Also, 2.0 is not a reboot. The things that happened in 1.0 are canonically things that happened in the past of 2.0 as I understand it, at least when it comes to the overarching lore. Little things, like the appearance of the ascians, may be changed, but the important things are kept.

Well, when I say it's a "re-boot", I meant that for a brand new player who jumped onto the game only from ARR, it doesn't directly matter whether you know the original storyline. From such a perspective, everything in the past would be no different from any other kind of backstory. ARR doesn't start with you, the player, specifically recalling your heroics from Ver1.0, and starting where you left off. You literally started over again, whether or not you're a legacy player (of course, a legacy player is completely free to role-play otherwise).

And that's also why I say returning non-player characters are a "nod" to legacy players, because it's only really them who would fully appreciate the reappearances.

In that sense, though, I'd say that a bit more effort could have been taken to discuss F'lhaminn's backstory in ARR. I may know her from uploaded videos from Ver1.0, but even as a "legacy" player, I don't actually know all that much about her and her "Ul'dahn clique".

That's not quite correct.

Characters who were imported from version 1.x experienced a slightly different introduction and, depending on how much of the pre-calamity quest line had been cleared, different cutscenes will unlock to celebrate your past heroics. One of them even directly acknowledges your personal defeating of Nael van Darnus.

Granted, much of the story was consistent with new players for the purposes of easier writing and story-telling. But a "re-boot" is one of the last things I'd call it, particularly since people would have a tendency to compare it to a DC/Marvel comic re-boot.

The Lalafell twins showed up in the level 50 Miner quest but didn't seem to have a very important role apart from being at the side of the Miner Guildmaster to pass judgment on that one guy.

I believe the lala twins own the mineral concern. Since the concern is a powerful business in Ul'dah, I'd say they have the potential to show up in any future events involving The Syndicate. I also expect that Greinfarr/Bronze Bull will be seen around in connection with Ul'dahn Gladiator culture. F'lhaminn being brought into The Scions hasn't really had any plot significance other than to satisfy Minfillia's unrest about leaving Thanalan. As I've said elsewhere, I'd like to see some demonstration of continuity from the Limsa and Gridania storylines.
